Being a guitar player for many years, I decided to explore playing Bass. I purchased a squier infinity J bass. I didnt want to sink a bunch of money into this so I got the 'package' for just over $200. The amp ,Rumble 15 sounds pretty good for what it is & the J bass is of remarkable quality for what it costs. The finish & workmanship are stellar, neck pocket is very tight & overall seems like good value. I have seen this same bass w/manufacturing in China & Indonesia. Mine is made in Indonesia. What are the differences between the 2 manufacturing areas as Fender lists 2 different criteria for both apparently same instrucments.

Welcome to the dark side. Before anyone else comments, it is actually affinity. Apart from that, despite what people will say I find the packages to be a great starter set, but I do recommend opening the box and inspecting the bass itself as they do vary widely in quality. I for one can't tell muhc difference between countries of origin in this instance, just that some are crappolla and some are pretty nice.

My Affinity P is okay, it's developed a scratchy pot and the tuners are pretty stiff, but it's a player and I've used it in practices when my Jazz was in the shop.
I can't bring myself to like the affinities. They just don't play very smooth. I do like the Vintage Modified series P and Classic Vibe J though.
I think one of the best parts of that deal though is that Fender Rumble amp, it's one of the best I've heard. I'm going to replace my cheap old RMS amp with one of those soon enough.
BTW, I'm not saying the Squier Affinities are bad basses necessarily, just that I don't like how they feel.
