You might be able to get away with it on the black one but on my silver one no way ,yuk.

It's hardly flaming. I'm merely pointing out that his assertions regarding the situation are, from a factual standpoint, wrong.
However, it might have been easier for me just to say, "I call BS".
I got a Jag today, but it's not one of the newer ones, it's the "standard" VM Squier that's been out. I went looking for the SS ones, but this was on sale and with pearl inlays and stacked knobs and all I couldn't resist.
The one SS that was present in the store was abused already and when you plugged it in all you got was a horrible hum. So that made the decision very easy.

You could always get the MOP block inlay stickers from Creative cuts or Jockomo an Ebay.
Man i ordered mine last weekend still waiting , it was not in when i ordred it . I paid 149.99$ , so i will be patient.

Wouldn't that feel weird? Real inlays are flush with the surface of the fingerboard. Stickers aren't.
I went looking for the SS in Atlanta yesterday. No luck. I suppose I could have called around, but that would have taken the spontineaty out of it. I did check out a trans red standard model w/ active PJ. The electronics didn't do much for me (dead battery?), but the neck was fantastic. Still holding out for the SS.
It's got to be an 'impulse' buy though. That way my wife can just chalk it up to me being a total idiot. If she thought I put any thought into it and ordered one, she'd kill me.

I'm no reviewer either, but I bought my daughter one of these yesterday from a local store. Actually, she paid for half. Anyways, ever since my daughter expressed an interest in learning to play bass (after playing piano for 2+ years) I wanted to get her her own bass that fit her. This thing looks like it was made for her. No awkward stretching and not too heavy. She wanted an all black bass so she could get the DR Green strings. I've never played a SS. It IS different, especially for someone like me with a 80" wingspan.
On to the "review". The setup was just about perfect. Neck is straight and the action is nice and low. No fret buzz at all. Obviously the hardware is not the best, but I'm not complaining. The finish is beautiful. I, too, dig the P pup and the blended combo. The J pup soloed is lacking just a little, but throw in new pups, Hipshot tuners and a nice bridge, and I don't see why this wouldn't be a contender. My only complaint, the control knobs are really close together. I'm sure it's because of the smaller body, thus a smaller control plate.
I guess for her first bass, this one isn't too bad. Plus, I get to play it!

Yep, 6.5 lbs. I weighed myself several times with, and without the bass, on my digital bathroom scale. Since my scale only has one decimal place, I suppose it could be minuscule variance up or down, but it's close enough. My Jazz weighs 9.5 using the same method, but that three lb difference is certainly noticeable! Very Happy!
I got black. As I said, minutes before I arrived, my music store had just received their shipment of two, both black, and the other one was a full size with the MM style pickup. The black on black is very classy looking.
My current MIM Jazz is Dakota Red (like a fire engine), and I swore I'd never have another red one, but looking at Candy Apple Red, I could live with that too!
I have never really cared for the block inlays.....heck you can leave the dots off for all I care.
But really!.....whatever you like.
It wouldn't stop me from getting a cool used bass.

I gigged the bass last night (without a backup). Other than needing to tune it up almost a half step, it is exactly as when I took it out of the box. No intonation or action adjustments necessary. I brought it up to pitch immediately before the first set. Due to normal stretching, I had to tweak the tuning a few times till the end of the second set. After that, the tuning held firm. In my experience, the mark of a cheap bass is usually the need to tune more frequently, due to cheaper, greener neck woods, and flimsy tuners. Impressed me!
I've just got to say, I'm extremely pleased with the smaller body size, weight (6.5 lbs), and playability. Did a four hour gig with no fatigue, and honestly, I was playing fresher, more inspired bass lines. Was even complimented by the other bandmates. Funny how a positive change can influence what you actually play (does me anyway).
I was fortunate that the gig was a semi outdoor festival (under the inside edge of a rather large pavilion with a big stage)
The only nit to pick was that its brighter overall tone had to be dialed down, especially on the J pickup. The P pickup really impressed me. Very full, rich, and even across the spectrum. Easily one of the best sounding P pickups I've ever played.
As you can tell, I feel this is one of the best acquisitions i've made in years! Especially considering it was a need purchase due to my health concerns.
