Squier Jaguar Bass - WOW!

Good to know. I prefer the satin finishes. I can't stand necks that have glossy finish on them. My backup bass has one, and it annoys me after playing it for a while.

Take a green scouring pad like the one you'd find in a kitchen and use it to sand the back of the neck. Start off slow and light and add pressure as needed. You don't want to take the finish off. You just want to knock the shine off. I did this on my MIM fretless J and it was way better afterward. Took about 5 minutes.

Love this jag, as others have mentioned, home run!

My only beef is the Jazz pickup. Do not dig the noise, and would like some more power.

Thinking of going Dimarzio (Model J or Ultra Jazz...Area J?) or Nordstrand ( not sure which...)

Have you guys done anything yet? Would you replace the P just so it is 'matched'. I am fine with the P as is, but I am one of those weirdos that like matching stuff :D

If you do not like the noise and want more power I would go ultra.

I just bought one $299. Been playing 40+ years, own pre-cbs and roadworn. The set-up was AWFUL. I fixed that. btw the nut is one of those awful giant ones so eventually that will be changed to bone but I filed it down proper for now. I put on a gold BadAssIII bridge i had hangin about...lined right up. Great neck and the new bridge really brought it out. I think the frets are Plek'd becauseiIt holds a very low action and i see no fret dress marks. The frets are larger than vintage but smaller than fender med. jumbo btw. Nice. Great sounding pickups. I'll put on some gold hipshot HB7 tuners and this will look really sharp...black and gold. Plays and sounds amazing right now, and I own some killer basses. This thing is my Entwistle/Jones Rock bass now. Do a set-uop...add $250 in a bridge and tuners...and u have a custom bass nicer than the American Standard IMO.

Just got one of these here on tb for $210. I'm going to put an Allparts maple neck on it, because I like maple necks, and a BAII bridge, and that will probably be it. I was considering changing out the pups for some Bartolinis, but it seems unnecessary. When I'm all done, I hope to have a really nice player for well under $600.
