Just got back from GC, they had one of these bad boys in stock. Took it down and tried it out since so many of you guys are raving about it. I was blown away. It sounded GREAT. The knob configuration with the click tone pots, great as well. Was comparing this to some MIM and MIA Fenders... and if the Squier would have actually had a setup... I think it would have been better :hiding:

My only complaint besides the horrible setup (not an issue at all, most Fender stuff needs a setup) are the frets. They are tiny... vintage? I would have preferred something bigger but for 300.00 bucks.... I just cannot believe some of the stuff at this price point.

Question for some of you modders... What bridge did you replace it with? Looks like a BA II or Hipshot 201 would drop in easy. The pickups sounded good as is, but when I took the control compartment out to check out the unique wiring each pickup had three wires coming from each. I am used to just a hot and a ground for a P and a J pup....any idea about that? Going to see if I can score one of these used for even a great deal!

The bridge definitely works and is far better than previous generation Squier stuff. Unscrewing/screwing five screws is hardly any effort for me. Plus, picking up aftermarket parts on the classifieds and you can have an amazing bass for little money

I have one sitting next to me right now...tremendous bass, especially for the money. Right next to it is my Sparkle red ATK. I consider these two purchases to be two of the best purchases I've made.

Oh and the frets are most certainly not the standard medium jumbo frets you are used to seeing on Fender's. They are the vintage frets; a bit taller and narrower. They aren't Lakland small, but definitely smaller than what you get on a regular Fender.

Since there never was a Jaguar bass (it's a modern take-off on the Jaguar guitar) what's the vibe like? Similar to a J, a P or something else? It can't be mimicking a classic sound because the sound never existed.

I played one a while back but it didn't really resonate with me, so maybe I was missing something. At any rate, for the price that Squier's asking , I'm curious again.

This bass is pretty aggressive. The pickups are real hot. It's got an amazing J bass tone and one of the best P bass tones I've heard. It's got a real burpy tone that I love. This bass sounds like what I always wished the SB2 could sound like.
