The second hand market for them is really strong here in the UK, I always watch the ones that come up for sale on Ebay, just to see how much they go for.

I bought mine new for 200 USD right before they were discontinued.
On Reverb I always see a few floating around for probably around 250 plus shipping. Some list higher than that but don't seem to sell without price drops.

When I got the Jag SS for $149 new in 2012 - it's very possible that it was a sale price and the regular price was higher.
It was my first bass, and I wasn't familiar with, or watching prices on basses back then.
I bought two more Jag SS's after that - one use from GC for $125 plus shipping, and another new one for $179 plus tax.

You can post sound clips, I've done it before. You tend to get an error sometimes and need to refresh the page. Or I did anyway.
These basses have a reputation for weak J pickups, and I know that I have perceived mine as rather weak, thus the reason for buying new ones that will be switched in this week.
However, I was messing around with trying different knobs for aesthetic reasons today, and on a whim I tested all the dials. The reason that I've perceived my J pickup as so weak is because, well, it isn't functioning at all! And possibly has never functioned.
So...yes, that would make the J pickup rather weak. How did I not notice? The answer: I'm a novice.
I guess it's a good thing I decided to get new pickups on a whim. But the tone pot could be messed up, too. (It does feel a little loose -- I wouldn't rule out me loosening it on accident changing around knobs. But the other two dials are fine...) Those will be easy to replace, though. I'm taking it to a store to get the pickups switched in, anyway, so I will have them look at the electrical issue.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to report back about the work on my bass. The Dimarzio pickups are in and my bass has new life. It's a tone machine now, the new pickups are notably better than the stock.
It turns out the pot was blown on the J pickup. I know that pulling knobs can loosen a pot or some wiring, but it sounds like this one was blown from the factory, so having actual J-tone is a huge improvement. That also means the old pickup should still be good, so I'll keep the old set around as a backup. Not that I'll need them...
The Dimarzio J pickup is great, but what's blowing me away is the new P-pickup. It feels like I have real Motown sound now with just that dialed in.
Forget thinking about other basses. I think my Jaguar will be the only bass I have for some time coming.

Put a DiMarzio in the P position on one of my Jag SS's, and routed it for a Mustang pickup in the J spot, along with a toggle switch.
Love the sounds, but might make a new pick guard for it.

Yep - still got 'em. I modded two of them, and the silver one is stock.
Nice! I'm hooked on them too. I have a second one on the way. It's been modded with EMG Geezer pickups and electronics so it should sound pretty sweet.
Yep - that should sound real good. And IMO, the way they play and feel can't be beat.
I agree. And the plus side is they're inexpensive relative to other options.

I paid $365 (Aud) for mine in a hard case shipped to me in rural Australia. That's around $245 Usd. I see them advertised (and selling) for over $400 now.
I actually played mine a bit this week. Had a backyard BBQ jam and didn't want to take my #1 bass so out came the little Jag. It is such a good bass but I noticed that I was over-reaching sometimes due to being so used to the full scale these days. I also realised that since putting in the Wilde J45's in my fretless Jazz that I've got a spare bridge jazz pickup sitting around so i'll try swapping it out and see if there's any improvement over the stock one.
