I didn't notice any tonal difference, but the bass saddles sure look different, better IMHO.

Hi Everyone,
Is this where I sign up for the Squire Jaguar Short Scale Bass Club?
I just ordered a used 2012 Jag Vintage SS, all black. It is all stock except for replacement Dimarzio pups.
I am going to attempt to start playing again after 45 years, so was looking for something not too $$.
Got it for $99, so it met my budget.
I'm thinking about putting flat wounds on it but we'll see how it sounds when it gets here.

Also welcome back to bass playing, it's never to late to start again. I played long scales for years and discovered short scales a couple of years ago.
All I can say is I wish I had discovered them years ago!
The Jaguar ss is a great bass and I know you'll enjoy it.

For the posters looking at bridge replacements... I scored a Gotoh 201 in a trade here and installed it this weekend. It's a solid piece of gear. I was worried about the larger saddles keeping me from getting my action as low as I prefer, but I had no problems getting it set up where I like. Change in tone is always subjective, though to my ears the bass has a bit more sustain. I'm quite happy with it.

That was pretty much my results too and I was happy with that. I really wish Fender would put out a build of this thing with a hi-mass bridge.

Congrats on the Jag! I recently got a peavey foundation 5 string (long scale) and, while I like it, it doesn't compare to my short scale Jaguars.
Yes, I have a hipshot BT2 Xtender installed on mine. Needs a lighter touch on the E when you engage it though.
I recently put on some Gotoh reso-lite GB 640's on mine and even though they look similar to the originals the holes don't line up. I also had to put a bit of an angle on them on the back of the head-stock or the G string tuner would have been showing around 5mm above the top edge of the headstock. I didn't bother filling the old holes as i can't see them with the new machine heads on there. It has reduced the neck dive a bit but not as much as I hoped and the tuning is a little better (28:1 as opposed to the original which i believe is 18:1 or so) but i was hoping for more improvement on the tuning side. I'm glad I did it even though they cost over half the price of the bass but I probably wouldn't bother again for the slight improvements....... but it does make it "mine" and that's worth more than money
Like my other basses, I have tuned mine DGCF. I use LaBella Deep Talkin flats, and with a .105 gauge on the heaviest string, it works fine as long as you have a sense of touch in your right hand.
It would not work with stock strings, though (IMHO)
Yes, forgot to mention that. I had to up the string gauge to get the Xtender to work, it didn't like the lighter strings with less tension. I'm using LaBella Quarter Rounds 105 set now. I've found them to be a big improvement.
