Squier Jaguar Short Scale Club Part 3

Just wanted to thank everybody involved with this ongoing thread. After deciding the SS was the best contender for my desire to learn bass, I spent quite a few days reading through all 3 versions (along with a nice chunk of the Rumble Club thread) before finally pulling the trigger.

Per some thread recommendations I ended up using the Elderly website for my starter pack order and traded-in the included 15W Rumble amp at my local GC for the 40W at a 10% discount. Except for some crooked pickguard screws, the guitar and amp seem just fine to me and I'm really excited to learn.

Thanks again for sharing so much passion and knowledge... you guys rock!

Fender does not call the sunburst Jaguar an Affinity series on its website (but it does call the other "pack" basses Affinity), and it doesn't have the "Affinity" decal on the headstock that the other pack basses have. I think GC named it Affinity because all the other pack basses are. I have a CAR SS Jag I bought 3 years ago, and the sunburst one that comes in the pack I bought last winter . But yes - you're right. It's not called Affinity on the site. It's not called Vintage Modified either.

I don't think it really makes a difference. They're great little basses.

You did good.

A Jaguar SS was my first bass too, several years ago.
The pack wasn't available then, but I probably would have gotten it, if it was.
I've got two of those basses now.

I bought a broken Squier Jaguar SS Bass off Craigslist (the guy had dropped it off a stage and the lower body cracked where the electronics cavity was located), married it to a Squier Stratocaster body whose neck was twisted, cut a new pick guard and put in an EMG X active soap bar pickup that I had. Two broken basses @ $60 each and this is the result.

Does a March 2012 count as long enough? Mine is stock except for Magnet mod for Jag SS bridge pickup and installing half round strings right after purchase. Still going strong and sounding great. I purchased a set of DiMarzio DP126 P/J pups but never installed them because the stock pups sound great (especially the P). IME the Jag is lighter and has a faster neck that the Squier Mustang (sort of a Jazz vs P bass type comparison).

Thats good to know, thanks! I need to check one out, $199 is super cheap. I bought the Fender Mustang MIJ Reissue, not the Squire version :)
