George, would you mind going and peeing on some other thread please? This thread is about the Squier Vista MusicMaster bass, not a debate thread about whether short scales or long scales sound better. There are about a million TB threads on that particular subject where you could pratter on at will.
Now if you don't mind, those of us who are members here would like to get this thread back on the topic of the Squier MusicMaster Vista Club. If you would like to join the club all you have to do is find yourself a Vista MusicMaster. But be forewarned... you might like it

OK... let's get back to our regular programming. Could any members share their most recent string choices. I am thinking of putting some chromes on my Vista, but I'm wondering if there are better choices, or if I should stick with the roundwounds. Any suggestions?

Good questions FB. The colors available were officially: Sonic Blue (which is pretty much Surf Green and called that by many); Arctic White; Shell Pink; and Black.

The Sonic Blue/Surf Green and Shell Pink models are worth the most used, but all the colors play and sound great

If you go to the first page in this thread and look at Post 2, I put up a picture of an original ad for the Vista MusicMaster basses, which shows all of the colors.

Thanks. I had played the black and maple Squier Mustang recently and while I normally dig that combination for strats and precisions it did not speak to me with the Mustang proportions. Might try to locate a black one if these, luckily the cheapest!

I had a Bronco with a MusicMasterer in it. Like my current Jag SS, the Agathis body-wood sounded like sh*t!

If you are just after the feel and tone of these wonderful basses, the black models will play as well as any. In all honesty I would probably gig my Vista MM more if it were black or white. The pink is very cool but kinda gimmicky. I'm not sure I could play out with one. If I could find a Beach Boys tribute band to play in, I'd use my Surf Green Vista a lot more

Well it just so happens my three favorite colors on Fender instruments are Shell Pink, Black, ans Olympic White. I do get what you mean about gigging with the pink one. OTOH my wife finds black basses sexy...

Love the black basses. I have 3 black short scales... a Gretsch G2202 Junior Jet, a Cort Action Jr. and one of those crappy sounding Bronco basses with a GFS L'il Killer pickup

The Bronco looks very cool in black. This is how mine turned out. Very happy with it. But I still like the MusicMaster with its stock pickup more
If I could find another Vista pickup, I'd throw it in the Bronco in a heartbeat.

What you will get with that combination is a drier, thumpier more opaque sound.

Sign me up. Bought this on ebay last week for $220, still waiting for it to arrive though. I was gonna order a tort guard from Jeannie pickguards. Any one have any experience with them? Also is anybody using La Bella Mustang Flats for this bass? If so do they sound.

I used to be a big fan of flats, but not so much anymore. They sound kind of one-dimensional to me now (whether it's a short scale or full scale, George). I had some D'adario ProSteels on my Mustang for a while, they had a bright, cutting tone, and I remember thinking that I would have liked to try them with the Vista pup.

BTW, I sure am missing my MusicMaster.
