Squier MusicMaster Vista Club

Warm me up a number... I have a Vista landing tomorrow. Pics to come.

As promised...

Picked up off the GC used site out of Omaha. Lucky find for a bass/color I've been searching for almost a year. Great condition other than two missing ferrules (edit - found and fixed).

It's going to my oldest daughter when she turns 8, in 2.5 years. I'll probably gig it some in secret between now and then. :) I really like the tone.

Nice! How much, if you don't mind me asking?

Oh no! I{m totally gassing for one of these in seafoam or shell pink.
I would put a precision bridge cover and a jazz pickup cover and rock it.
I{m justifying looking into one as well, I don{t have a bass with a single coil, and I was considering finding a cheap jazz, so why not this?
Pictures will have to do for now (so I{m subscribing), these are some beautiful basses, you guys (maybe girls) should be proud to own them.

Also, 189 is a killer deal for that bass. I would totally offer you something, but I think I already know the answer.;)

Hey guys! I was wondering... How good are these basses bridges? I've seen a couple of people change them because they are "not as good" for keeping the bass in the right intonation... A friend of mines owns a 70's one with dimarzio j bass pickups and a badass bridge wich I've played at some jams and at a gig once... It looks wreked but I love the tone of it with some flats...

Probably time to bump up the Vista MusicMaster Club thread.
I could use some advice on new strings for my Vista. When I bought it used, the bass came with well worn roundwounds that I have not replaced because the bass sounds great with them and for some reason there is not as much string noise/buss as I get with other basses with roundwounds.
I'm thinking flats, but I'm thinking of going with something other than Chromes, which I have on a couple of other short scale. I like the chromes but I want to try something different and maybe with a bit less tension and perhaps a hair brighter. Maybe halfrounds or groundwounds... or even tapewounds?
I believe I have to go with medium scale on this bass. Any suggestions on a decent string set? What do you use on your Vista MM?

D'adarrio halfrounds may be just the ticket. I'm probably gonna put a set on my Mustang soon.

Just bought my new baby second-hand a few days ago and I love it!
It's such a relief that I can comfortably reach from the 1st to the 4th fret :p my hands aren't that big..
The pickguard is severely discoloured though. It looks more like beige now, so I think I'll replace it for a tortoise red one or so.
It's a lovely small thing but the tone isn't at all, it's so... deep. The little sucker sure does pack a punch. Didn't expect that at all when I first heard it. Gee I've got to write this all down in my native language, I'd be able to express myself much more accurately :/

So please, sign me up :smug: pic below:

Don't know if I'm allowed to say this but if anyone is thinking to part with theirs, pm me please, I'm tirelessly searching for one :/

Not to say you can't ask this group (seems like good use to me), but here is a tip on how I found my little gem... I hit this URL every single day (mostly) for about a year. ONLY works in IE (frustrating)...
Invalid Link Removed
Did I mention it only works in IE?

Of course, I had eBay searches set up too. there's one available in the US now...
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trk...ist&_nkw=musicmaster+vista&_sacat=0&_from=R40

judging by sold listings, they're popping up on eBay... 8 in the last month to be exact
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...sta+bass&_nkw=musicmaster+vista+bass&_sacat=0
During the year I searched, I didn't see this many pink ones.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that does indeed help. The one on the bay looks nice, but at that BIN price I'd rather look for a deal on a vintage Fender Musicmaster.

Unless that is the value of a Vista Musicmaster these days, seems steep to me, but I'm open to being educated if I'm wrong :bassist:

The surf green/sonic blue and pink Vista MMs generally go in the $350-$400 range. Black or white ones seem to sell for $250-300.
If you keep an eye on local classifieds occasionally one will pop up cheap from someone who has had it in the basement since new and doesn't know what they have. That's how I snagged my Vista for $150.
