Have been reading this entire thread because I'm waiting for the reply of a seller here in Holland. Still waiting for days but I would really love getting this bass! It's a black one in nice condition. The reason it got my attention is that I tried a pink one that's hanging in our rehearsal room and was floored! The owner doesn't want to sell it but maybe someday...then I will have 2. Still waiting for the black one though...

not to intrude on this small (but powerful) club, but is anyone here selling/know anyone selling a squier musicmaster? Im trying to trade my danelectro dc bass for one - trying to work something out. I know this is a long shot but figured i'd try anyway.

Did anyone note the white one on eBay earlier? He started out at $550 plus $45 shipping. After three days he dropped it to $490 plus $45. Today it sold for a best offer, but annoyingly eBay doesn't list what that offer was; they only show what it was listed for. I can't imagine he would have accepted less than $400 since it started at $490. Even at $400, that would be a pretty high price. The apparent scarcity of these lately appears to have driven up the price. Also, that might've been the cleanest looking example I've ever seen come up for sale. From the pictures I could only see what looks like it might be a little blemish on the headstock. Otherwise it looked perfect.
MakoMan, unfortunately I must resign my member number, I sold it yesterday. It just wasn't the bass for me. :-(

Finally got to play mine at practice the other day. I've discovered I don't like flats. I put it down after one song and picked up my Jaguar with D'addario rounds and it felt like home. Glad I got the flats cheap due to a friendly TB member. Now I'll just have to sell them *slightly* used and pick up a set of medium scale rounds.
If you're used to rounds, flats can be quite a shocker. I have flats and rounds on various basses and I love them for different reasons. One of my favorite things to do with my pbass with flats is to use a pick. I love the brighter attack with the flat thud. It makes my sloppy pick playing sound a bit cleaner.
What kind of flats did you try? I'm a Chromes kind of guy. They seem to be much brighter than most flats.
LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats and I typically play with a pick. They were okay when I was playing unplugged, but they just didn't sit right in the mix when I was playing with the band. I really only tried them because of the deal I was offered. I normally wouldn't drop $40 on strings (I know, ask the DB forum about the cost of strings), so when the opportunity to get them cheaper appeared I was more comfortable with trying them out. That isn't to say I won't try Chromes in the future, but it won't be any time soon.
On a side note: I did get new intonation screws/bolts at the local hardware store. They were metric and the drunken clerk (seriously) had a tough time finding the right size (still a little shorter than the originals), but I have them now and they did the job.
Im circling another MM after having to sell my pink one last year, I posted it here and then a friend really wanted to buy it for his girlfriends b day and she has a great band and needed a good bass......so I couldnt say no to him or the $350, but now a opportunity is arising for another of a different finish.
Did you see any of the five that have been of eBay lately? There was a white one, a black one, and after never seeing a pink one on eBay before there were three at the same time! I may have snagged another pink one. I'll have to decide which pink one to keep and sell the other.
On an unrelated note, a friend gave me a Seymour Duncan SCPB-3 pickup that he had no use for. I know many people in the past have discussed that it is not an exact replacement for the Vista tone pick up in the Squier MM, so I decided to do my own measurements. The Vista is 52mm between the centers of the outside magnet poles. The SCPB-3 is 53.5mm apart. So, while not exactly the same, they're close enough for someone who wants to try one out. I'm thinking of dropping it into one of mine just for fun to see if I like it or not.
