That's the exact pickup I put in my Vista when the stock pickup crapped out. It sounds great.
I got two single coils too, those don't fit in the space. If I have to hog out some space I'll do soemthing weird, but for now I want something easy to drop in
So to follow up on my potential refurbishing of my Vista, I got back my Squier Mini-P from my luthier friend who crafted a new pickguard for it. At the same time I gave him the original pickup from my MusicMaster and explained to him that it still worked when it was last in the bass, but had completely lost its low end. He is going to test and analyze it to see if he can figure out what is wrong and try to either fix it or rewind it.
I built a '54 Warmoth bass and got a new Lindy Fralin pickup for $99. It sounds awesome, and I would buy that if I needed to replace the Vista Tone pickup. Also it doesn't say Seymour Duncan on it.
What size/length did you get for those? I couldn't find anything last time I looked.
They are M3 10mm length for the outer saddle and 12mm for the inner
Add me to the club! Got mine last year for about $600 + shipping from Australia to the US. Had it in my watchlist on reverb for a while and after selling some other gear I just had to pull the trigger. Its such a beautiful instrument! I've gone between round wound and flats on it but considering putting some half wounds on it.
How do the necks compare between the Mustang and Bronco?
Just wondering, I recently put a Bronco neck on my Franken-Musicmaster and love it. I've looked at Mustangs but around here in Central WI there's no real convenient place close enough to have ever played one.
I prefer the neck on my MM, the Bronco is a tad chunky but still comfortable
About the only differences are the nut width of the Bronco neck is 1-5/8" compared to 1-1/2" of the Mustangs and the MIJ Mustang neck has a more shallow profile to the back of the neck than the P/J or Bronco. I've played several Broncos and I found the necks to be very consistent in feel with a nice chunkiness to it. It took me several tries to find a P/J neck I really liked the feel of.
However, favorite FMIC neck profile is on my Squier Jaguar short scale with a 1-1/2" nut and what I consider a rounded somewhat "V" profile. I've never found one I didn't like.
It's interesting that you say that because the Bronco neck has a much thinner profile than the original neck from my '78 Musicmaster. Now my Fender and my Squier both have thin and very comfortable necks
And I love the maple board.
I've heard that about the Jaguar necks too.
Congratulations vbrodgers, you are club member No. 80! That is a beautiful bass AND in the most desirable color IMHO. I'm jealous!

I've basically been taking all the best parts of the Squier version and upgrading my Fender.
Lemme know if you ever wanna part with your '78 neck! Long shot, I know... but, nothing ventured, nothing gained...

Absolutely worth a shot right? Keeping it for now, would have loved to have kept it on but the arthritis on my hands isn't getting better so had to go for the thin Bronco neck.
Hopefully not too much blaspheme. The pickguard from the Bronco fits real well and looks good. The Jack Casady electronics are going in it this weekend. Going to hog out a little room for it tomorrow. The bass had already been modded a bunch before I got it. It will be a beast
