Squier MusicMaster Vista Club

Saw this today. It's shell pink with the matching headstock, so it's gotta be a Vista!

Hi, I have a CIJ mustang which I love. I have just become aware of these Vista Series Musicmasters, and am trying to find out the neck radius on them. I'm not finding it anywhere. Can someone help me out with the real specs of the neck on these great looking bassses?

Thanks so much!

Looks like he's at a dinner/banquet event and jumped up with the band playing the event...
Look at the background... head stock on left, banquet table on right???!!!
Got me

For sure. Something like that. He owned a Musicmaster at some point, so maybe it's his.

Little bit late on a reply. Mine looks like 7.25 neck radius, the nut is 42mm. 30 inch scale of course.

Regarding the Al-bridge.

Pros:
  • the perfect intonation is now easily achieved;
  • feels solid;
  • sounds great.

Cons:
  • the spacing is not ideal, just slightly wider (it works just fine and the pickup is covered anyway);
  • the finish is a bit sloppy: the saddles look weird;
  • the mounting screws are of the wrong type (but I used the original screws anyway);
  • wrong allen key for the saddles height included (the gauge is smaller).

NBD!!!

I was actually trying to decide between a Squier Mike Dirnt and a Squier Mike Freeman (even posted a question here in TB to ask for opinions). But by the time I had made up my mind, the MF was sold. Then this Musicmaster popped up I had to snag it. I had read so much good things about it here.

This beauty arrived yesterday and other than a couple of small dings on the back of the body, it's in pretty good shape. Noodled on it for about an hour before dad duty calls, loved the tone, loved how the neck felt, and the short scale made it fun to play.

I have a couple of questions:
1. How does it handle drop D tuning?
2. Read here somewhere that short scale strings won't fit since it's string through body, is that correct? Need medium scale or cut down standard long scale?

Thanks guys!

That's a beauty. Did you get a good deal on it? Just curious. I have one and it is great.

And I have 2 Musicmasters (1 of each) and two Mustangs. I used Medium scale D'addario flats on all four for a long time. But recently switched to Ernie Ball Cobalt mediums and they fit all 3 except the Squier CV Mustang, but that's another story.

No, I don't think I got a particularly good deal on this, came to about US$500 shipped. I've always wanted a short scale and these are extremely hard to come by around my part of the world. Thanks for the confirmation on using medium scale strings. I'll be testing out drop D tuning later tonight or tomorrow, let's see how this baby handles it.

That's a pretty good price, I think. Most of them I've seen for sale are in the $700 range.

Enjoy it! :thumbsup:

Seems like a good deal for a Vista MM to me.

Thank you guys! Yes, I need to read through the whole forum and not just the first 40 odd pages. I feel better now!

Played in drop D tuning last night, string was too loose for my liking. I don't know what kind of strings the previous owner had on this thing, they're brand new and round wounds. I think I will stick to standard tuning on this MM for the next few months then change to a higher gauge when the time comes to change strings.
