My resuscitation job is finally complete! Picked this guy up last year for $150. Its neck was perpetually in backbow on the bass side. Frets were pulled. The truss rod was adjusted so that the treble side was straight, and the bass side had a hump. I then sanded the humpy bass side down and blended it into straightness with the treble side. Refretted with StewMac 150 wire (pretty chunky stuff) secured with fish glue, and cut a bone nut. I’m usually a roundwound exclusive player, but I had these medium scale tapewounds laying around, so I thought I’d throw them on so I could stop looking at them in the drawer. The neck now has even relief on the bass and treble side, and offers adjustability with the truss rod that did not exist before. It’s got some finish damage around the edges of the body and some missing finish on the back of the neck, but that seems like par for the course on these basses. I think it came out quite nice, but this is the second of these basses I’ve seen with neck issues, which reinforces my stance that these basses are a lot more “fun” than they are of any esteemed quality. I doubt most people would pay to have the work done. Still, they are fun!
