Its looking much better now! Sanded and stained the body today, it looks badass. Currently widening the fret slots in the neck and making wood inlays for fretlines. Then going to stain it to match the body.

Did you stain the headstock? The yellowish tint looks nice. Mine is kind of pasty.

And one more for good measure. PS I've got a Wilkinson pickup on the way, I'm just curious to see if it adds anything.

Hopefully will be back soon with Squier Jazz Deluxe V Active, one of my gigs calls for a 5-er more and more, and drop tunings/detuner have limitations...
I am even thinking about getting two and defretting one.

Affinity P, made in Indonesia, I think around 2003 if i read the serial right. Wonderful neck, and i love the way it sounds. I have absolutely no intentions of uprading any part of this bass. It's perfect the way it is.

I love my Active IV... that's a beaut. Which strings have you got on it? and how do you like the tone with them...

The Active Deluxe basses sure are great! They're DR Extra-life's in "Hot Pink". They sound great! Nice and bright, yet still retain a nice bottom end... Not too sure how much that has to do the Dimarzio pups though

Dilemma: I've got a gig coming up that pretty much requires at least some semblance of a jazz bass type tone, and I currently only own p-basses. Solution: Found a 99 Squier Standard P-bass special. I got it for a great price since it was plastered with stickers, and most people (understandably) do not want to bother removing them. I've been really impressed with this bass. It's got some nice weight to it, nice finish on the neck, sounds and feels great.

I had originally planned to swap out the pickguard for a tort (my favorite), but now that I have it I actually am a fan of the white on sunburst (GASP! I hate white PG's normally), at least it's a W/B/W so it looks quality.

I've also learned that I am indeed a fan of the P/J sound. Just the right amount of beefy and articulate.

oh and PS: using some light heat from a hair dryer helped tremendously in removing the stickers from this bass.

I wish there were more Squier basses with maple fingerboards. I know there have been some, and that some of the VMs have them, as well as the 50s CV. I just wish it was more common.

About 4 years ago I found a Squier P-bass in white with a maple neck for $99 at a music shop in the Midwest. I just didn't have the $$$ to get it and it was soon gone.

Not positive the neck was original, but it def had the Squier logo.

Man that thing had a nice neck.

My beloved Badtz Maru Bronco Bass. I kind of bought it as a joke off of Ebay for $100. Little did I know that it'd have the bass sound that I wanted.

One day I got bored, so I took a Sharpie to the pickguard. Then, I sprayed polyurethane on it, making the Sharpie run like dripping eyeliner. I liked the effect. For pickups, it has a Lace Red Sensor, which has been painted over, and upgraded full-sized Alpha pots with Sprague Orange Drop caps. If you have sharp eyes, you might noticed that the pickup is installed upside down. It doesn't matter, though, obviously.

The tuners could be better but I don't know of any tuners that would fit those tiny pegs.

Hi, joining the Squier Club!

I bought this Squier Precision Standard Special with the Chrome Pickguard.

So far so good, I have replaced the knobs with Jazz style ones, so I can see how much I have dialed. Now it's really 50-50:

Neck, Knobs, Bridge Pickup = Jazz
Body, Pickguard, Neck Pickup = Precision

Not a big fan of the strings it shipped with, Chromes going on tonight.

Looks like my Active Deluxe Jazz V (Sunburst) is on delivery now. Should be here late next week (if lucky). I'm pretty excited right now, I hope this is a good one and not a lemon.

Even though I don't even have it yet, I'm already thinking mods... Ultra jazzes are a direct fit, right? ...but I'm ready to give the stock PU's & electronics a chance. We'll see.

I dug my Squier Affinity Jazz V backup bass out of the band trailer this past weekend, and put a tort pickguard on it. I couldn’t stand the white one, and now I love the look.

Playing this in the music room, it just played and sounded so good that I’m looking forward to gigging it again. I do have a new set of DR SS lowriders that might be nice on it, but I don’t have any mods in mind. Been gigging the same (great) bass for a couple months, so I’m ready for a switch.

The pic makes it look real white, but the “Arctic” white is really much creamier a color, and looks good with the tort.

Since it doesn’t appear numbers are being given, I’ll just put the club in my sig.
