After converting mine to a PJ5, I made my own pickguard. 1/8" birch plywood from the craft store and ebony stain.
Man that is cool! Looks great!

Still in beautiful shape!
Love the look of the soapbar pickups on your bass jimmykicker.
They DO look beefy don't they? I highly recommend it. It's a big improvement over the stock pickups. Thank you so much for your kind words about it.
I have Bartolini's put into mine, but no soapbars. I'd be interested to hear the difference.
interesting. Those factory routes on the Special aren’t standard sizes. Did you have to modify the ears a little to fit them?
Nothing like putting a $200 set of pickups in a bass worth $100 is there? Bass plays phenomenal. Now it sounds like a million bucks.
I used a dremel to widen the routes a little and to open the pickguard up a tiny bit more. The stock pickups are IMO pretty terrible so this is a great change.
Ahhh, the dreaded "Squier Standard Blueprint" strikes again! Great mod-platforms…if you don't mind breaking out a Dremel and possibly a router!interesting. Those factory routes on the Special aren’t standard sizes. Did you have to modify the ears a little to fit them?
