Wow. Which do you have? I have the natural finish.
Yup - same one and I added both covers and a S/P switch with the four ply tort.

its amazing there isn't a whole "store" full of custom acc. for the vmj and its sisters... a lot of 'em have been sold.
thx
Hi everyone, I've been lurking around the forums and doing a lot of reading about these VM basses (particularly the Jaguars) and was wondering if anyone could help me out with a bit of advice.
I'm after an ultra deep, dubby sort of sound so I'll most likely be putting flatwounds on and using the neck pickup with the tone rolled right off whichever bass I get. I really like the looks on the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] (which I think is the same as some of the VMs) but the active stuff concerns me, I've never used a bass with active electronics (I was on an old Rickenbacker back when I played bass years ago) so am I right in thinking this one might not be ideal for the sort of sound I'm after? I'm getting the impression from Googling around it'd brighten the tone and maybe compress it somewhat too, is that right?
It's an extra little bump in price but this one seems to be looking the most suitable of the ones I've seen at the moment, just looking for a bit of extra input on it all really. This is for recording through an interface into a PC if that makes any difference to things.
Thanks in advance![]()

Very nice. I love mine, it's my favorite bass, even over my MIA Jazz. Sounds nice, plays easy, and I haven't had to do a setup outside of a minor truss rod adjustment when I got it three years ago. Oh, and looks gorgeous, too.
I bought a VM5 jazz (presumably 2013, due to neck finish) a couple of weeks ago, great playing and sounding instrument. Only reason I returned it was that it was too darn heavy (10.8 lbs). If it was a even just a pound lighter, I would've kept it.
Am I correct in assuming that the 2013 VM jazz basses all have gloss finish necks, as opposed to the previous ones I've seen with satin finish necks? I haven't read about any such change in the specs, but I've seen a few in stores that have gloss necks/fingerboards.
Well it was your photos and reviews on here that sold me on this bass! Are you getting kickbacks from Fender? I hope so! Thanks for spreading the good word.
Mine came with a pretty severe up-bow, more truss rod fiddling than I was comfortable doing at home. After a proper set up I couldn't be happier. Added some flatwound chromes and it sounds so good through my ampeg BA110.
BTW I realized only after posting the pic that the bridge cover was a little "off". Rest assured it's squared up now after a minor adjustment.![]()
I think it's the 70s series VMs that have the gloss necks. The others I've seen are all Satin.
