Squier VM P. Completely stock. Paid like a ham sammich and some lint for it, new. Plays great.

If I had a Jag (and I would too, if I had the room) I would definitely take you up on your offer. Wouldn't bother me in the least.:D

There's that neck edge that I like.

Somewhat rounded and at first I thought it might cause the strings to roll of the fretboard - but I played a nice fretless like this once and it never gave me any trouble at all.

The edge is a sign to me that there has been some nice work on the bass. That's a quality issue to me.

You got a will? A Living trust and open power of attorney?

All stock, only thing changed has been strings.
Got a few months back, my 2nd bass :)

Oh and btw, if numbers are still being given out, then number me away :)
If not i'll take incentive from C.Linton and declare myself a numberless member

Well, the new PG on my CV jazz bass body is a Fender 62RI Pickguard. I would believe that a Fender pickguard would also work on the VM P. But don't hold me to that.

A guy can also get a guard made to the specs of the original on the bass. Some places want the original pick guard as a template and/or a tracing of the original.

Pickguardian comes to mind and there are a few others. You might want to pull the original and take it with you to the local shop(s) and see how it matches up with the replacement guards there.

Or just lump it and buy a replacement from someone with a good return policy to see if it fits. And be sure to expect to have to tweak it a bit if you do this! (be aware if you alter the guard, they most likely won't take it back....)

Neck pockets might need work or holes may need to be plugged and re-drilled on the bass body itself. Some starting points -

Here's my VM Jazz. Picked it up for under $200. Installed a Gotoh 201 bridge, the right knobs, and black pickguard screws. Everything else will stay the same, I don't want to totally black it out. Sounds amazing with the Gotoh bridge. I'm amazed every time I play it.

I did exactly the same to mine, the action could be better, but that's prob just a set up issue.

I've got pictures and proof that at least the MIM J-Deluxe bass PG will interchange with the VM-Jazz bass

EDIT:::: OOOOPS! SOMEHOW ALL THE PIXS GOT DUMPED OFF MY ALBUM.

This is the Tort PG off my 2009 MiM Deluxe Jazz bass - just sitting here, not screwed on. :::

As you can see - there is a slight dimensional difference, but if the wood's good outside of and under the stock PG, then no problem I feel:::

Things I discovered::

1) Although tiny differences exist, I don't feel that changing them in either direction is a problem even though the control panels are slightly longer on one and the VEE-notch in the PG is slightly different, BUT it's nothing a little Dremel work won't fix

2) The screw holes don't really line up and you'll have to re-drill the body to accept the new positions - AND ---

The screws are different diameters on the two basses. The Fender MiM screws have slightly smaller shanks and the heads are a tiny bit smaller.

The VM-Jazz has larger screws, including the heads.

BEWARE that the #2 Phillips is only on the MiM bass, and that a totally different, JIS crosshead screws are on the VM-Jazz. I imagine this carries all the way through the whole VM and CV line as they are all made overseas and use the JIS fastener standards.

Using the wrong cross-headed screwdriver on one or the other will definitely burr up the heads and make them sharp and chip the chrome.

Just thought you'd like to know.
