Squier VM/CV Bass Opinions?

How do people feel about the Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe series instruments? I've heard (and experienced) the 6 strings to be of great value, but there isn't too much out there on the basses.

Really what I'm getting at, how are these 3 specific basses: The 70s Jazz, 70s Precision, and 50s P/Tele. What is the difference between the 70s and 50s Precisions anyways? I don't know, but answers are appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I can't speak for the rest, but I have a 2010 70s VM Jazz bass and I love it. Great tone and sustain. Beautiful finish (natural Maple top), and really comfortable slim neck. Also the neck didn't have any rough edges at the frets. All hardware is good but I'm planning on replacing the bridge with a hipshot Kick-Ass. Planning on a few other mods but they are all cosmetic. And you can find some great deals on used ones. I found a seller who bundled the VM Jazz bass, a tweed case, fender rumble 75 amp, and Big Muff Pi bass pedal for $300!

Same as the 6 strings, great value for the most part. Ive played the 70s J and P basses, both are quite nice. Ive not played the 50s but it has a vintage voiced pickup and sounds different from the 70s P from what Ive heard online.

I have a 2014 VM Jazz V. I replaced the pickups/electronics and the bridge.

The pickups mine came with (Fender-designed) sounded way too bright and brittle. I had to use the tone rolled off 75% to get the to sound more or less “regular”, and they seemed to lack low-end, too.
So I installed a 2-band preamp to try and thicken up the tone, but the pickups still sounded kind of weak and noisy. I replaced the pickups at that point.

There was nothing wrong with the bridge, it did it’s job, but I like High-mass bridges just for the “mass” (like my G&L.

In my opinion, you need to shop around and look closely at a few before you choose the best one. I’ve seen a few with finishing flaws like poor clear-coat spray on the neck and off-Center bridges.

The one I found is pretty much flawless.
It’s a really great playing and sounding instrument. This one weighs in at just under 11 lbs, but I like it that way...

Here is mine... I bought it about 8 years ago used for $200 CDN..love the sound...it is one of my favs. To me the 2 piece flame body is Unique.

Seriously? I've heard far more about the basses than the guitars…far more.
The VMs are very good and the CVs are even better.
Don't gamble on a new one when you can still find one of the older ones.
Buy one of these and you'll be set.
I'm done buying...yeah, we all say that...but an Inca Silver or Lake Placid Blue CV Jazz might just change my mind.

I really want that 50s P! Just one of he great things about Squier is that you can buy 2-3 of them for the price of one MIM Fender and 5-6 or more for the price of an American made Fender.

Hat is some really nice flame! I’ve never seen one with both body halves flamed, usually it’s only one. You scored!!!
