Squier VM

hi there,

im sorry if this has been posted before, but i searched and could not find anything. Im looking to buy a new bass and i cant decide between two. The Squier Vintage Modified Jazz and the MIM Fender Jazz. Im just not sure which one would be the better buy, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Go with the Squier.. IMO, they have the same if not better quality as the MIM line.

i bought a vm jazz over the mim
i like everything about it over the mim
the duncan designed pups, the play of the neck
and its almost half the cost

Agree on the Squier.....I have 3. I've modded both my CV P's and each one with the mods is below what a MIM would run.

Don't the Squiers have basswood bodies? The MIMs have alder which IMO, is better wood for a bass body. That's why I would go with the MIM.

I've played an 08 MIM Jazz, and also a Classic Vibe and Vintage Modified jazz. I actually kind of hate to say it, but both Squiers were better than the MIM. Both the CV and VM had better playability and sound than the MIM. Also, I think both Squiers had better fret work. The VM looked way cooler than the MIM. I mean c'mon, block inlays? How can you go wrong?

well,if your looking for lots of bite and bright cutting tone,the VM jazz is the way to go
