Squiers! Who owns more than two? If so why?

What type/year squire do you guys recommend if I want to mod it. New pups, bridge, maybe put a preamp in it. I'm thinking about replacing the neck with a graphite necks as well. Thinking about it. I would like the easiest accessible yet, in the general consensus opinion on the "best" squire P to get.

I have found if you have a good body and neck you can create a great bass by adding hardware. No matter if its basswood,alder plywood whatever if It sounds good and the neck is good you can make it sing and save big $$.

I have found if you have a good body and neck you can create a great bass by adding hardware. No matter if its basswood,alder plywood whatever if It sounds good and the neck is good you can make it sing and save big $$.[/QUOTE]

What kind of taste regarding pups and a preamp in a squire do you like bully?

Who say's you would need to mod it. No offense but why does allot of Tber's think they need to mod a new bass? The CV are my fav's out there today but there are other models VM etc.
Find one you like and try it out and see what works for you.
If you feel it need mods go for it. As for a graphite neck to be honest I never understood them or what purpose they serve. I'll stick with wood.

No preamps I am a pure passive guy. I tried preamps (inboard ) and I just don't like the tone or dealing with battery issues. I do use an outboard pre (sansamp) but keep it dialed down.

As for pups I tried a few and to be honest the Fender 62' RI are my fav's. I'm an old school tone guy . I play with flats and love the bottom end with good mids and these pups do it for me.

I also own 2 Squier basses: a Sonic Blue CV 60's P with MiM pickup and a VM Jazz V stock with series parallel switch. And my MiM Fender P/J sits in it's case for now until I decide to sell/trade it. The Squiers get all the love lately (especially the CV P).

I have 5 Squier instruments. An Affinity Jazz 5, a Bronco, a Jaguar Short Scale, a Mustang bass and a Surfcaster guitar. If they didn't play great (as good or better than any MIA or MIM Fender) I wouldn't have bought them. Fact is that each one sounded better than anything else I tried at the store that day.
I always get a kick out of the reaction I get from other players when I show up to a gig with my Squier Jazz 5 as my main bass and my American Deluxe 5 Jazz as my backup.

I have an SQ P bass, an SQ J bass, and a 2002 Squier Tom Delonge Strat.

Each of them is better than I, inspiring me to improve.
The P bass is my main player, replacing my active Ibanez 5 string. It just owns.
If I found a JV I'd probably sell a kidney or something.

I own a couple, a VM fretless jazz and a Sonic Blue CV P-bass. Both were given to me as gifts.

Out of my 6 basses, the Classic Vibe precision is the one I always grab when I'm at home and have a new idea or want to figure out a song.

:p I know the feeling you have the two SQ's and really want the JV to own the first two production Squiers. I suffer from this also. I have a dealer looking for a JV P bass but so far in almost 2 years ...nothing. I don't do the Ebay thing I have to see it ,hold it, play it before I'm dropping cash on it.

When I got my first 83' SQ I played it out more and left my 78' P bass home. I figured why worry about the 78' tonight just take the Squier.
After finally seeing the 78' P was sitting at home and the SQ P was going out all the time I thought about it. It was not really cuz I did not want the 78' to get ripped off or broken it was the 83' SQ was lighter and played and sounded better. I traded the 78' P for a Gibson J-45 accoustic and never looked back.

Hello all, I don't have any Squiers but I'm currently in the market. My everyday gigging instrument is a '96 MIA Fender 50th Anniversary J Bass V but I'm looking for a short scale and I've heard pretty good things about the Squier VM Jag Bass SS.

It's between that or the Bronco as I'm on kind of a tight budget at the moment and just downsized/upgraded my rig from an Eden D410XLT (still have it) to a Avatar 210 NEO and a Orange TB. We've been gigging a lot so as you can see I'm trying to go smaller/lighter.

I'd love some advice.

It may take some digging, but do a search for threads revolving around them. I think using "Squier" and "short scale" would give you plenty to sift through.

If you're looking to reduce the weight on your shoulder without sacrificing a long-scale neck, see if you can try out the non-short-scale VM Jag. I grabbed one that'll eventually go to a protege o' mine, but until then I've been making adjustments and noodling around with it. It's noticeably lighter than some basses. It may even be as light, if not lighter, than my Aerodyne. Also, sonically speaking, it's a bit of a cannon…probably because of the active electronics.
