Squiers! Who owns more than two? If so why?

I own a Squier Bronco and a Squier 5 string (Chinese made).

I use the Bronco for practice so I don't wear down my main instrument. It's short scale but reduces wear and tear on my Fender Jaguar bass. Bought used for $75

The 5 string is there to explore 5 strings. Bought used for $100

I have three. A Modern Player Telecaster Bass in Butterscotch, A Classic Vibe 50s Precision in Lake Placid Blue, and a Sunburst Vintage Modified 50s Precision TB. I love that 50s Tele look and I don't know where else to get this style bass without spending a fortune. All of mine are somewhat modified with better quality tuners and bridges. There's an added 50s style single coil in the P postition on the TB to add a little flavor to that neck pickup (just got this one this week). I got these because they were inexpensive, very well made in my opinion and they look classic-think Dusty Hill. Plus, I play a lot of roots reggae and the EB style pickups in the neck position really help move some air.

I was pretty much an anti-Squier snob for the longest, but I must admit that the new stuff they're putting out is shockingly high quality for what they're asking for them. The paint jobs are excellent, the necks are great...yes, the hardware ain't top shelf, but good enough to get the job done. Plus if some idiot knocks one over during a bar fight (yes, this has happened to me) you're not crushed the way you would be if it were one of your expensive basses. Try one.

Yeah man Squiers are fantastic. I have a Squier VMS Telecaster guitar on the way. It has a Jazzmaster neck & humbucker.
I don't require a pro instrument. I will likely never buy a USA Fender. What for.

Im a P Bass guy at heart, but Im also only 5'4" and have a bad back so I switched to short scales around 15 years ago. I got a Squier Musicman Vista and it was my go to bass for about 10 years. That bass put the lie to Squiers rep as cheap or shoddy. It felt and sounded like the Fenders I had been using, and I never got anything but compliments on my sound when using it. Quite a few other basses came & went, including a couple SX ss P Basses which I still use and like very much. When Squier came out with the ss Jag & medium scale Tele, the novelty of those classic designs as basses was irresistible and their sound & playability has made them my favorites. I might get the tele body contoured to make it more comfortable and lighter.

It's good to see somebody who is not ashamed to use Squiers for gigging. With how much the Squiers have improved over the years, there's no consequential difference between them and the Fenders.
I myself have a Squier Vintage Modified Mustang Bass and I have no intention of upgrading to an actual Fender bass (barring the unlikely event that one is given to me)
