As far as the ones that are known to be the exceptionally good MIJ Squiers, I thought they ended in the mid 80's?
Yeah Thumpbass1, it may be somewhat annoying to see the name misspelled time and time again but at least it it phonetically correct with the R before the E. The only times it really hits me funny is when someone spells it wrong and also shows a pic of the headstock with the correct spelling clearly visible.
As for bagging the OP's spelling of the brand I did it for educational reasons only. I apologize to the OP for what admittedly now seems that I wanted to act like a jerk, when actually I was just messing with him a bit in good fun. It doesn't look that way on the surface, now that I think about it. For that I'm sorry, and humbly apologize to adam precision.

My friend has one of the old Korea ones (precision) and I could swear it's just a Fender with the Squier logo. It's real nice.
as far as i know (and i know everything) 89 was the last year squiers came steady out of Japan 89 was the transition year to Korea.. so if i'm not mistaken you can find Korea and Japan basses from 89, but from 90 mostly korea and up until 88 mostly Japan...
i believe the 89 squier II P bass etc where MIJ made... i've atleast seen a MIJ P bass from that year
