This is particularly aimed at Australians but anyone can contribute to this thread.
Firstly, I think I"ve fallen in love with teh Ibanez SRX series..I played the SRX700 and I totally loved it, unfortunately they're not available in Australia anymore.
Because I love the SRX so much, I might get myself the SRX300 (I really dig the 390 but is it worth paying more for looks?).

The SRX is actually an affordable bass in Australia (unlike most basses), an amazing bass going for around 450 at allans in Sydney. I haven't played it yet but I also made a significant discovery...
On the US ibanez site, it says it's made of Basswood.
on the Australian site, it says it's made of agathis.
On the Allans music site (http://www.allansmusic.com.au/defau...Code=SRX300IPT), it says its basswood, but I find this site is pretty slow at updating and unreliable...
So if I was to try this bass out at the store (which I would do asap), are there easy ways to determine if the wood is basswood or agathis? I used to hate basswood but I hold respect for it now (since it's very common in Ibi basses) but I still very much hate agathis.
Other questions include is the quality of the bass. it's the lowest range but I've heard great things about Ibanez in general, from the GSR200 to the Prestige range (I myself own an Alder PJ squier at the moment). Is the B100 bridge good/decent? and is the difference in pickups significant (Comparing the pickups in the SRX300 and the alnico passive pups that were in the SRX700)?
Keep in mind I'm nearly 17 and I have a weak mind. Thank You very much and in advance.
