Stacked V/V.. separate Tone/Tone

Here is a question...

When running a V/V/T/T and having .022uf caps on both tone controls..

Would it be like having one .044uf cap when both tone controls are rolled down?

You have two capacitors in parallel essentially.

The potentiometers add some variable resistance in there to consider but your understanding is close enough.

Yep I think so. I didn't read what wiring config you're using but if it's set up so the tones interact with both pickups at full volume then what you describe is the functionality you'll get when both pickups volumes are at 100%.

It's different if the tones are isolated.

Yes and no. with both vols 100%, and both tones 0%, yes, two 22nf will work just like a single 44nf. But if say, you had both tone pots at halfway (about 50K) then you'd be rolling off more treble than a single tone pot (with a 44nf cap) at half way. IOW, if you had both tone pots on a stack, so you could rotate them together, I think you'd notice a more abrupt tone cut at first, then much the same as you got down to zero.

I can't see a couple of 15k summing resistors making any difference to this. But it's an interesting thought. If I get time later, I'll run some sims.
