Stage 81: S/D thread

Ok... All the T-40 talk has my gassing for a passive bass with some bark in it. I am not set on a 4 or 5 string, and I am not looking to break the bank on this....

What options do all of you recommend I check out.

Part of me is thinking of running down a t40 or maybe one of these:

Fender Dimension bass.

I guess I have a passive squire P already... I could just upgrade the pickups...

Thoughts?

Fuuuuuuuuuck

You might need a sweater...possibly even some mittens.

Oh man, **** is escalating.

Here's a tip for the future: Don't piss off the guy that's mixing your album.

Crap, are things imploding or what?

Random animal pic, not very doomey, lol.
One of our baby sugar glider that recently opened her eyes.

Does it make me a psycho that I thought that was adorable, but it also made me hungry? The two feelings might just be separate and coincidental...hopefully.

He hasn't even heard them yet. He's getting some attitude from the guitarist, when said guitarist should be kissing his ass.

I wish I could talk about what's going on with my similar situation right now, but I don't want to air dirty laundry in public. I sympathize.

hahaha, still going through these live vids of AmenRa. I imagine this would be a nice, bleak soundtrack to the birth and eyes opening of a sugar glider. DOOM AS FVCK. lol

Great idea, I should of filmed it since she is still getting used to big goofy humans wanting to pet and hold her. I moved too suddenly and she started crabbing at me, real loud, she made me flinch from sound alone, she proabably could barely break the skin with a bite at that small size but they can wake the dead when they want, lol.

actually it's not that cold, I shoveled with just a rain jacket over my t-shirt, no mittens or hat (toque) and no boots just a pair of AirWalks

edit: also had pants on.

I thought you were a complete bada$$ Sam, until the edit.

Somewhere in America there's a guy shoveling snow in only work boots, a banana hammock and knitten scarf. Is it snowing where Adam lives right now?

Ugh, I probably shouldn't be airing dirty laundry either.

No implosion yet, but patience is being tested. Neither of us (rhythm section folks) wants to quit, but there's a limit to how much a person can take.

That sucks, I hope something gets worked out for you man. Either with the band or finding something else to be able to play music with less headache. That's why I stopped giving details about the band that shall not be named, because it's only gotten worse and now there a bunch of behind the scenes BS I didn't even know about until last weekend. In the mean time we've been getting show and label offers (?!), but we haven't practiced in well over 6 months and our album still isn't finished (technically not even finished being WRITTEN, even though it's 75% done). There's almost no communication among band members about any of it either.

Fender Dimension bass.

First choice: T-40, its awesome for a reason.
Second choice: old Japanese reverse P. Matsumoku, Washburn and related.
Third choice: Aria, there are two local I'm crushing on, even if one is VAG pink.

Man, sorry to hear about all of that. CM has some street cred in the Doom world (it's a small world, but still), so the label offers aren't totally surprising to me. The BS can be frustrating, for sure. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to have that kind of attention but not be able to move forward, or even communicate about it.

For us (drummer and I) it's getting to the point where we just have to expect this kind of stuff. We've been over it all before, communicated about everything, but nothing has changed.

The question is, is it worth it to put up with this garbage? How much can we put up with before one of us has had enough and walks? I've been close a couple of times. Drummer has more patience than me, but he's getting fed up.

I'm at least going to search out another project. I'd like to work with drummer from this band, but he's already got another gigging band besides the doom band and probably won't want to do a third.

I'm thinking some good old fashioned stoner/desert rock would be goddamned fun to play at this point.

Oh well, first world problems, right?
