Stage Apparel - What's On Your "No" List?

Not just the tiny stage, but the psycho-red paint and the weird sh*t on the walls and everything. Very strange vibe going on in that room at least by that photo. Did you have a good turnout?

Actually we had a great turnout that night. The venue is a vodka bar in W. Hollywood called Bar Lubitsch, near Beverly Hills. It was a cool place.

crocs, pajama pants, sandals, shorts, jean shorts or jackets. anything with a zipper that contacts my bass, sunglasses, your own band name on a t-shirt. sports jerseys. tight fitting long sleeves.
theres pretty much not much I WILL wear on stage.

normally a good fitting t-shirt, loose (not baggy fitting) jeans, elbow brace ( to prevent my previously dislocated elbow from aching) athletic socks and steel cap boots (most comfortable boots i've ever had)

Stage wear I try to avoid:
Sandals/flipflops
Sports jacket/suit jacket
Necktie
White or light-colored shirt
"Natural" gray t-shirt, unless it says something extra cool on it
Jewelry

My country band is a sneakers, jeans & t-shirt outfit. Only the drummer wears boots and I'm the only one that wears a cowboy hat once in a while. The bandleader likes the biker look, w/do-rag, Harley shirt, ripped jeans etc. so that sets the bar pretty low for us guys. Our female singer usually looks much better than her band! Which is fitting, because all eyes are on her most of the time.

Would you mind repeating your age once more? Your birthday is not filled out in your profile and I'd like to know when you are going to be 59 like me. I think there may be be still one or two people who play bass on this planet that may not have the information on how old you are.

By the way, did I tell you I am 59? Let me tell you, looking good at 59 ain't easy. As a matter of fact, not only do I look crappy on stage, I am lucky if I can remember what day the rehearsal is. Getting out of bed at 59 is a big issue. Picking out my clothes for the day is a major problem, no less what I am going to wear for my next gig. If you think 58 blows, wait till 59. It actually blows 0.98% more according to my calculations.

LOL x100:bassist:

i think I would refrain from most things that I wouldnt wear normally. i.e. Crocs, Uggs (What is with all the guys in Uggs i see??) leather trousers, baseball caps... sometimes its fun to do fancy dress, we did it in dresses for a laugh but i think basically we just looked like actual idiots and not the edgy crayzee rebel look we were going for...fail...

Apparently, there's nothing I won't wear on stage. Obviously it's got to be appropriate to the gig, but for my casino band's third and fourth set, I put on a Devo energy dome, fake glasses, black shorts and spandex, and a pair of knee-high platform boots.

What can I say, people bring their friends out to our next gig to stare at the freak with the wierd bass.

Onstage with my worship team, neutral shirt, nice dark-colored jeans, nice shoes. It all has to look good under the lights, so mostly we just wear black. Although I did wear the platform knee-highs once, under the jeans. It wasn't until the service was over that anyone noticed.
