Stage Apparel - What's On Your "No" List?

erm in my old band there was only 2 things
1. if we were playing the club "rockers" not to show up wearing one of my mod suits
2. keep shirt on at under 18 gigs
both rules i often broke

Is there really still a mods and rockers dichotomy over there?
I thought that went out in the early 70's.
1. Being over weight
2. Cargo Shorts
3. T Shirts
4. Gym shoes or hiking boots
5. Shaved head look when your out of shape and don't have the right shaped head (which is just about all of us)
If your under 25 and in shape you can probably get away with anything and still look cool.

My opinion?
Well you have broken all my rules. Only you know what is right for your look and what your comfortable with.
Here is my opinion, when you look at the young lady and the male guitarist and the drummer, they look like they are in one band and your in different band.
Fair enough, though if you look closely at the drummer, you'll see he is also wearing a t-shirt & shorts. He's also wearing a backwards ballcap. And you cant see it from this pic, but there is a keys player on the other side of the stage, though I forget what he was wearing.
Stage attire is something Ive come to start thinking about, thanks to this thread, so I was seriously asking your opinion.
our trumpet player was wearing bermuda shorts, flip flops and a video game tee (he works for Sony) at rehearsal last night. the REAL bad thing is he'll probably being wearing the same stuff (just a different game shirt) next show..

Interesting challenge, all bands are different. Individually we have to have what we are going to wear aproved by our BL.
Nothing is off the table on stage. And that includes "nothing." Yes, I've played naked in front of a crowd before....
I generally try to put effort into how I present myself on stage, and generally try to look like I belong up there and am the musician that I am.
Otherwise, there's a situation for almost any sort of dress. Including a "dress." Yes, I've worn a dress on stage...

Honestly, you do look out of place. The others all look like they dressed up a bit - especially the lady. You look like you just got off work at the auto body place and went straight to the gig. As for the drummer? Well, he's not off the hook, either, but at least he's harder to see behind the drum kit.
This is not supposed to be mean - I say this out of love. I've heard your music, checked out your websites, and I really like it. Really. I really liked that last band that you were in a while back. Some really nice stuff, and I like this new band, too.
I think when you go to a gig like that, it only has the potential to make people not take you seriously. I think your music should be taken seriously. It's good stuff. Keep your stage presence and how you present yourself on stage in line with that!
My "no" list. (I play "old school" metal (in the style of early metallica, blitzkrieg, etc))
-Shorts (unless your the drummer)
-V-neck T-shirts (ugh!)
-matching outfits
-ripped shirts
-Pants with outrageous patterns on them (like leopard print or something like that)
-Tank-tops/wife-beaters/etc.
-anything fuzzy
-Brightly colored pants (I'm OK with white... but that's about it)
I usually wear a black T shirt, faded bell bottom jeans and off-white chucks
-Shorts (unless your the drummer)
