Shorts. Don't wear them in my everyday life, why wear them on stage? A t-shirt alone. I always need a jacket or button-up plaid shirt shirt over a t-shirt. Sandals. Not even sure if I own a pair... Beyond those limitations, there isn't much I'll say no too.

I wont wear sandals either, because Im not playing on the beach, and the footswitches on my pedals would poke through to my feet.

Anything else Im good with. I usually prefer to play in shorts and a tee.

I had 3rd degree burns on my feet about 6 years ago. Because of that, the ONLY reason I wear socks and shoes is my corporate job and cold weather. Other than that I am wearing flip-flops. Even at a gig, unless specifically asked by the client for a specific "look". Also, we tried to do the "long sleeve shirt, nice jeans/pants, no hats, all look the part thing" and guess what, it just didn't seem to work. It all felt fake. We transitioned to vintage screen printed T's, hip jeans, a hat every now and then, and me ALWAYS barefoot. Sorry, me worrying about the pain in my feet during a gig will and does affect my playing. Oddly enough, I always get asked about being barefoot during set breaks, and always get folks wanting band T's, stickers, and biz cards. IMO, this helps us be more in-touch with the crowd. I'm there to entertain them, not to portray myself as someone that is better than my audience. Different ways to look at the issue!


On a side note: A lot of people at my work are fans of my band. So my band played my company's Christmas Party this past winter. We all "upgraded" our attire, as it was not a casual party. About two songs in, I had a bunch of folks standing in front me yelling "take 'em off, take 'em off". So I kicked my shoes out into the dance floor, and they all loved it. So I guess being barefoot is turning into "my look".

The whole no shirt and a vest is a no go. Spandex is a given no-no; should not even have to mention that one.

and no leather studded wrist bands kind of out grew them.

One look I cant stand is when some grungy rocker like say Nikki Sixx comes out with a Military jacket or get up on with all the patches, metals, hat etc. Yeah, like that tool was ever in the Military

If you're onstage wearing denim shorts, a T-shirt, a backwards fitted baseball cap, and have a "goatee", I cannot take your your sense of taste seriously. And that covers about a quarter of all performers I see in bars...usually the bassist.

Also, shirts with flames on them. Laaaaaame

Flame shirts just reminded me of hawaiian shirts. Has anyone yet mentioned hawwian shirts. If not, hawiian shirts = not! Nuthin against hawiians. Just their shirts.
