AWSOME! a classic. I was going to suggest that we all wear something completly different that we would never wear onstage for one gig, take pics and post here. After this pic, although photoshoped of Phalex. Never mind....never mind

Costume? No, no, no. I have, in the past, had some individual band mates that needed a bit of "direction" with their attire.
The last drummer I worked with actually showed up at a gig after hours of riding dirt bikes......in the same clothes. You could actually still see the outline of his goggles on his face. He refused to change, until we started calling subs.
I guess it comes down to "know your audience" or "know who's signing the check" for me.
I usually wear dark jeans, tennis shoes and a button-down, collared shirt (long sleeves-don't need to flash my clown tattoos' to a conservative crowd) un-tucked.

I suppose there's a reason no one has mentioned hawaiian shirts as stage attire....
I have to be honest though, a bright Hawaiian shirt with khakis and chucks is a very comfortable outfit on stage. Is 25 too young to rock that outfit? (My first group I played with wore that outfit every show and I seem to be stuck on it)
My current band is not so fond of this style and we tend to wear suits (we're a power ska/ ska rock band/ actually more of a rock band with a brass section) or whatever pants with black button down shirts with a power tie of some sort (varying in color) seems to work for us.
Last fall we did a pirate themed showed which was pretty fun to dress like pirates. We covered "Killing in the name of" but rewrote it as "Pillage in the name of".
I will mention that Five Iron Frenzy wore animal suits (kinda like a mascot type costume) and that was one of the most entertaining things I've ever seen. I'll post a link when I find one...

Although Alex is being facetious, I gotta go with this one. There's almost nothing I wouldn't wear onstage - I wanna be as silly as possible

It depends on the gig, so I won't rule too much out.
Show me the money, and I'll show you the tux.
Beach or boat gig? Shorts, no problem. Hawaiian shirt with glee. A white lei please, as it looks better against my skin.
Headband? As long as we get to rock some Duran Duran. I have some high tops with matching fat laces too.
Tee shirts and Birkenstocks? Get out the drum circle and spinners, cuz we're gonna jam.
Cowboy hat and boots? Yee-haw, you ain't seen sexy until you've seen a middle aged Korean dude singing Family Tradition.
Based on pics and videos on Tbird's gigs, they look like tons of fun with lots of eye candy. Probably good coin too. I'd rock the miniskirt for that.
Ric Stave's female singer is smokin' hot. I'd rock the disco wig to check out that tail for an evening.
Phalex's band seems to work alot, so I'd grow out a pornstache and max out my gut if it helps.
I haven't discovered what's on the 'no' list yet. But, I'll know it when I see it.

I have always dressed up for a gig. Nothing bothers me more than a band showing up on stage wearing their street clothes. Come on guys have a little respect for the stage. I do not care what kind of music you play, look pro and dress pro if you want pro attention. I have never heard lets go hear a band I have always heard lets go see a band. This has always been a peave of mine about bands some are so scruffy looking they belong in an alley pickin through the trash. I know I am being a little harsh but come on musical mates lets clean up and treat everyone at a show with a bit of respect. I know for a fact we have had extra bookings cause we looked and sounded like a band that gave a Sh@# how we looked, sounded and expressed our selves before during and after a gig. Just my 2 cents worth. Been giging for the last 40 years so something is working on my side.
