I think the costuming idea you've described could look really good. I don't know what level of makeup you would be going for, though I feel I'd rather know you were approachable people--as opposed to characters, if you get my meaning. Suspenders might be a neat uniform thing to do, too.
Not much makeup, really. Something discrete, just enough to look pale-er

Our singer wants us (6 people) to dress with white t-shirts. All.... No grey,no black, no colour. Even the only female in the band thinks that's bs.
Why not black or everybody to his own decision??
That's not very uniform. Personally, I think he's just trying to see the boobies on the gal in your band, but who knows? Maybe it ends up being your thing and rockets your band to stardom.

Probably not, though ;)

For me - No to dressing the same, sometimes Yes to dressing in a similar style. If it's a bar gig we don't care other than being whole and clean, if it's some kind of event we like to dress in some suitable style for the occasion. But not in uniform so to speak, that feels corny unless you're a jazz orchestra. Some bands do get away with it, others just look like they are trying way too hard without succeeding.

Well, if any one was still wondering how it went, I must say that the costumes looked pretty sweet, IMO at leas.

Eyes will roll when this is read ... ;)

In one of my country projects we dress for the stage. Stetson hats, Scully shirts, western boots, bolo ties, sometimes jackets. I've always said, though, that if one chooses to dress for the stage one had better DELIVER the goods. Don't want anyone to say "he's all hat and no cattle".

I think country bands are the one exception where I think dressing up looks great. You have to have the shirt etc, can't do the black T shirt thing with country.
But a low profile band wearing make-up and costumes spells NO TALENT to me. It's the KISS principle, the more smoke and mirrors, the worse the music .

Most punters don't give a @#$% what you're wearing! they are there for the music. OK, they are there to pick-up.

It's not a costume if everyone in the band wears the same thing. That makes it a uniform. Everyone should have their own unique look.
How would that make the Patriots look.. if they all wore their own unique thing? Or the Miami Heat, NY Yankees, or name a team?
Bands are a team effort, whether they dress the part or not.

When I hear the word costume I automatically think goofy looking hats, platform shoes, fake glasses, wigs, and generally looking like a fool. So...no, not for me at all.

I do like to dress for the stage though. Stuff with some decent style...jeans, button down shirt, etc. Stuff I would normally wear.
