Stand for Mackie DL1608

Has anyone found a good stand to use with this mixer? I am close to ordering it but would prefer it have a dedicated stand so it's not lying on the floor or chair or whatever getting knocked around. It seems small enough where a dedicated table is unnecessary.

I've switched from a 1608 to the XR18, largely because the Behringer's form factor allows it either to be racked or used as a stage box. When I ran a 1608, I'd use either a rack bag for my amp or a small 4 or 6-space rack, so that I could put the 1608 on top. (To keep the mixer from slipping, the rack bag was miles better than the Gator rack I first used under the Mackie.)

With the rack and mixer on a 2x12 cab, everything was at a convenient height–and the footprint was no larger than my usual stage rig for bass.

If you run the mixer's cabling through either your rack or cab's handles, you'll also get some much-needed strain relief and some extra insurance against the mixer being toppled by a bandmate suffering from doofus-foot.

Thanks, I normally put my SansAmp on my combo amp (I know, I know, it belongs on the floor), and I'm also looking at upgrading to a Subway D-800+ and matching 115, so space there may be at a premium. Do you have a link for the 4 to 6-space rack suggestion? Sorry, I'm fairly new to all this.

These sorts of rack bags work well. The top pockets are handy for load-in; and once the pocket's emptied, the extra fabric keeps the 1608 from sliding.

If you use a polyethylene rack (SKB or Gator-style), then some sort of soft foam adds friction. I used a Sound Off for a while when using either a Gator rack or a rat-fur wood rack, which helped. Still didn't feel as secure as the rack bag though.

I have a foam bag that the mixer, power supply and wireless access point all stay in. I set this on top of my bass amp at about waist height. I plug in my small 30' snake to keep cable mess down. Works fin.

Also, did you go with 30 feet in case someone volunteered to run sound for you in FOH vs having it sit on your bass amp? Otherwise it doesn't seem you'd need 30 feet.

Here's how I have mine deployed. I've since added a layer of toolbox drawer liner (thin slightly rubberish sheet) between mixer and rack case to add some stability and reduce chances of a topple. I've got the powersupply, headphone amp and bass pre in the rack, along with all the necessary cabling. I velcro the router to the outside of the rack case when in use otherwise it's stored in the case itself. I'm pretty happy with this setup!

Final part of the solution will be what goes betwen the rack case and the floor to get the mixer up to counter top height. The piano stool shown does NOT get deployed!!! I found a chair of the right height when I first deployed it last weekend, but will have to find a more permanent and portable solution. I'd like to use another road case but that defeats the purpose of the minimalistic type of setup I'm trying to achieve. Might make something hinged and collapsible out of plywood and paint it black.

I use a restaurant tray stand wit a small piece of shelving as a surface. Belongs to my guitarist. Works great.

I've settled on this setup. Rolling rack case (ProX UTL4) supporting rack PA/bass preamp, IEM headlamp and mixer on top; stores all my power and audio cables, snake, mixer case, iPads, DI, pedals, doodads, etc. Loads easy in the back of my SUV and best of all, takes only one trip from the car for the entire rig! Second trip for guitars and stands. Third trip if I need to deploy speakers (mains, we're all IEM now).

I just ordered a DL1608, and I had the MIX400 on my radar. Has anyone actually tried this pairing yet? It looks like it should work well on paper, but it's nice to get field reports.

Are you planning on using it with a docked ipad? That's about the only reason I'd see to place a DL on that sort of stand. It's much easier to place the mixer somewhere conveniently accessible to your stage wiring, then put the ipad on a stand by itself or on a microphone stand with a holder.

That was the plan (docked iPad), but good point about putting the iPad on its own stand. Hmmm...
