Stand for Mackie DL1608

I run an iPad Air 2 docked. It is always set to the main mix Has my break music loaded on it. I run an old iPAD 2 nearby and use it to adjust monitor mixes. Mostly I find places for it but I do have a mic stand holder for it which I use now and then on a straight stand.

The iPad 2 is actually a better bet than the 3 or 4. The retina iPads use a lot of processor to run the display. The display on the 2 isn't as high res but it run's master fader with acceptable levels of latency.

Actually, it looks like the MIX400 will not get narrow enough to hold the DL1608.

Good to know. Since I started this thread, I replaced the Mackie with the Soundcraft Ui24R on my wishlist. I will likely mount that in the Gator GRB-4U - 4 Rack Spaces, although by the time I start a PA system I may change my mind again! Thinking it may finally happen in the next few months so we can finally have real vocals in our practice room.

We're looking for something to put our 2 IEM transmitters into, multi channel headphone amp and DL1608 into.. and probably our XLR splitter and keep it wired all the time so we can just plug and go. There is a great gator with an open top and plenty of U under it... But for you this may work.

iPad docked vs undocked... Unless you router does streaming audio/airplay/or whatever apple calls it these days, if you are going to playback off your iPad, it needs to be docked. Otherwise you get the nasty blast of white noise... for me this is also what the 30' snake does. I run a Hosa 6x2 for the guitar and keys, vocals and harp mic on the other side... it is labeled both ends. It is my bandmates responsibility to get their end right... keeps the black spaghetti from under my feet.

Mackie does make a rackmount tray for the 806 / 1608 which might be useful in this scenario.

Well today it was a table under a pop up. Spacious after the tray stand ;-) Magician act between musical sets at the Wasco, OR county fair. Bass guy had an SVT. I kinda let him set the volume and mixed to him...

Are you folks able to use the DL1608 purely as a stand alone unit, or do you find it useful to pair it up with external processors, dbx DriveRack, etc? I was hoping to use it as a stand alone, but if external rack gear is needed (or very helpful), that would definitely impact my rack/stand choice.

I ended up ordering a Soundcraft Ui24R from a vendor on Reverb during the Labor Day sale. It was 15% off the street price of $999 and free shipping, which matched Sweetwater.

I also tried ordering a Turbosound powered sub (with 200w EQ-able stereo outputs) which combined with my old stereo speakers from college would have gotten me bye for now for a PA system for practices, but they later refunded my money and said they sold it elsewhere. Boo!

Soundcraft Ui24R

If I were buying today I'd look at it and the touch mix 16. More inputs on the Ui but the QSC has the built in display and is smaller/lighter. Both have built in wifi and multitrack record to usb. Very nice.

I will say the latest master fader on the mackie is very cool.

Stand alone for me as well.

On my old Presonus 16.4.2 I ran through a stereo 31 eq. Didn't actually us much of the EQ I found the analog gain stage warmed that board up a bit... I haven't felt the need with the dl-1608.

And yeah, Mackie's Master Fade app rocks. I wish Soundcraft would get it right for my SI 3...
