@40Hz If I have to give up capes, can I atleast run my Ric stereo to two Marshall Super Leads for nostalgia?
Absolutely. And you can keep your cape too. It looks good on you. And as long as the chicks dig it, who am I to argue.
I'll be sure to write a song with 8ers at the time signature with the note "inspired by ThuzzleFump" to stump future generations.

Because I am an old-school progger.
I have have sailed Topographic Oceans. I have searched and found the House of Four Doors and learned The Lost Chord therein. I have known the mystery of the Endless Enigma and have met the Golf Girl while vacationing in the Land of Pink and Grey. And despite it all, I have remained humble - and still as thick as a brick...
So...how do I know you look good in your cape?

Thank you for this thread. I have performed in bicycle helmets, spacesuits, and as you can see, the classic top hat, but always something was...missing. Now I finally know what that something is. The cape. No longer will I scurry the edge of greatness. The future is now, my friends, for those of us who are bold enough to step forth. OP, I salute you.
Now there's an interesting idea. But would it be practical to really do a prog jam? You'd need some really knowledgeable players with some decent training to pull it off. Prog's not generally that heavy on improvisation. There's some during live performance to be sure. But for the most part it's a pretty highly structured form of music. It usually has more in common with Baroque than it does with Classical music in that regard.
Unless...you want to develop a whole new prog sub-genre...

Not mine. And it's a famous old illustration that's in the public domain. It represents a philosopher breaking through the ordinary human spheres to behold the machinery behind the curtain that drives the universe. Nice bit of symbolism. I have a framed print of it in my home.

Possibly. But for a proggy/fusiony/world/jazz sorta thing, Snarky Puppy is the definitive band for it AFAIC. Check out this collaboration between them and Becca Stevens:

Cleveland area prog rock cover band that plays the songs YOU want to hear, as a prog rock fan. I used to play bass for them, but my having a child prevented me from continuing on. My old Genesis addict drummer runs it, and they play Rush, Genesis, Steely Dan, Yes, Camel (!!), and all the great bands from the heyday of Prog Rock. The keyboardist is a monsoon of a man, able to do every one of the vintage sounds with his setup. I highly recommend that if you are in Cleveland and like prog, check them out. It's worth it. No capes though!
