Anyone tried Status Hot Wire (Hotwire) flatwound strings? I've used their half round which are good. How is the tone, tension etc ?

Status Hot Wire flatwound

What are they? Are they groundwound? In my mind, "Hot Wire" brings up images of something zingy or something.
No, Hot Wire is just the brand name. They make rounds, half wounds flats and nylon strings. You can order from http://www.status-graphite.com/
I went for a set of Status Hotwire flats and I'm not disappointed. They are by far the best flatwound strings I've tried. Tension, punch and tone are all that I've been looking for. I've had them on a couple of months now and they are settling in nicely, sounding better every day. Highly recommended.
From what I've played they are medium tension. Tighter than TI flats but not as tight as Rotosound. I use Elites 40 to 100 on my fretted bass and they feel similar tension to them.
I just started using them on my headless Status and I love them! I would agree with the medium tension statement--more than say TI's but less than say Chromes. The windings taper down over the bridge saddles on the double-ball version. I assume it's the same on the standard strings. Sound-wise, I would say that they tend to be bright as flats go, but mine are still very new. I haven't tried a ton of flats over the years, but these may be my go to strings now just due to the B-string. Best flatwound B I have tried.
That's funny. I tried their 5-string half-wound set and it had the worst B I've ever played. About as weak and lifeless as you can get. I have no inclination to try their flats. Invalid Link Removed
