Steely Dan

Richard Lindsey said:
I liked Steeleye Span. Their middle period more than their very early or very late period, but they did some good stuff (Below the Salt, Parcel of Rogues, and Commoner's Crown, for example). I met Maddy Prior at a festival I played in Denmark about 10 years ago, and she was very nice; a couple of the other bandmembers weren't as nice.

They could not be less like Steely Dan musically. Closer to Stealer's Wheel, if anything.:D

Indeed.

We did a club gig a while ago with a house PA. It became apparent (this was AFTER we soundchecked!!!) that the House Sound Engineer thought we WERE a Steeleye Span tribute act.

I can only assume he must have been BITTERLY disappointed by our performance. :D :D :D :D :D

I knew I wasn't crazy!
You can take that :hmm: back anytime, Bruce!
Every day, in every way...I'm getting better & better.

Do any of you guys like Countdown To Ecstacy? IMo, that is one of the finest examples of rock we have to date.

Of course we like it.
For some of us that were alive back then, it was a 'different' kind of Rock...at least from my perspective.
Same goes for Can't Buy A Thrill.
I wasn't exactly sure what "it" was, just knew I kinda liked "it".

I was wondering if anyone would bite on that... I figured I was being too subtle.

It's "Stealers Wheels", not "Steelers"... that's why I wrote Gary instead of Gerry;)

"Stuck in the Middle..." is still one of my favorite Rock songs from childhood. Right up there with "Heart of Gold".

Well - it was originally my little joke - with a smilie - so I was making it like Steely and Steeleye - just so Jim wouldn't feel so bad!! ;)
