I think I've found one. I'm frantically selling kit to raise the coin!!

Well, I'm soon to be the owner of a lovely 1984 transitional L2LF, courtesy of our very own member on this page, Number 11. Fitting, indeed that she's coming from member Number 11 to myself as number 11 in the Steinberger Owners' Club! Bass is on its way from the Emerald Isle to rainy (what else?) Scotland as I type. Pix to follow when she lands!

That's a lovely, clean L2. Shouldn't that bass have SS pickups for such an early number or did someone swap them out?

Who made the leg-rest?
Stacker ,,,, Good question ,,,one that I cant answer . I spoke to "Be Em" about this a while back . The HB and SS both came out on the L2 & XL2 , I do know that the brass bottom EMG (SS & HB) for the L series and were produced before the solid glued version which I believe only came out with the "XL2 SERIES" ,,,but pls don't quote me on the XL2,s not having a brass bottom pickup or the L,s only having a brass one ,,,,,,!
I too would be very interested if anyone can shed some light here .

Thanking you stacker for the good comment ,,,and im looking forward to your pics ,,,,,!
I drilled a 1/4" hole through the small pivot between the screw holes , using a 1/4" stainless steel bolt I filed the hex head down to a "JACK PLUG" size , with 2 nuts (stainless steel) I screwed it to the legrest , 1 nut I filed off the edge to allow it to fold completely . I then glued a piece of felt on it as well .

Well, here she is on the left, a 1984 transitional L2LF, sitting next to my late '80s XL2A. Please excuse the crap campic - courtesy of our friends at Apple - but I'll get a better set up in due course.

Feels and looks like an XL but with a slightly shallower neck profile. Has the old peaked control knobs, V2 bridge but the XL string retainer and faceplate. Has the SS 'bucker and VVT passive circuit. Excellent condition for a bass that's 31 years old.

Hi, just have an enquiry about legrests . I see a lot of the bayonet type that push in and turn 180* to lock . There,s another type which is hard to find , even as an aftermarket part ive found . This type socket has an offset hole (no key slot) for a post and it looks like a small spring loaded ball inside for a plug in to pass .
I have made a legrest using a 1/4" stainless bolt ,,,that does the job , but ive often wondered what the real one looks like . If any one who has this same type of socket (pictured below) and the original legrest . A closeup photo of this legrest post plugin would be greatly appreciated .
