Steinberger Club

I wish people would stop linking to that idiot's auction, giving him what he wants: attention, just attention for selling his patches. Since about a year, every week another thread in every guitar forum worldwide from another guy who has missed it until now. If I see that &%$§"# beach sticker one single time again, I fear I must buy this guitar just to be able to kill it with fire… :(

'I wish people would stop linking to that idiot's auction' - Chill, man, it was the first time I've seen it!

I know, it's not your fault. But you have no idea how many people see it for the first time and immediately create a posting in their favorite forum… or subforum. And you have no idea how many discussions of this very ebay annoyance I've already seen, made by people who saw it for the first time. And I have a very special interest in NOT having a Steinberger involved in such an annoying context. Oh well, life is hard sometimes. But I know it's not your fault :)

Got a question here...

I'm thinking of picking up a Steinberger sometime this year and I'm wondering if it's worth it to get a Synapse over a Spirit. I, personally, don't see the value of the piezo bridge. The fact that the Synapse can take single or double ball strings is awesome but I also imagine I could just buy a piece of equipment for the Spirit to make that a reality. I'm really wondering if I should save $500 or if the Synapse really does have something that makes it worth picking up.

I've had three Spirits now including the current one and also have a Synapse. It's a hard call - I didn't think I'd have much use for the piezo but actually find myself using it blended in most of the time. However, EMGs in a Spirit roar. I finally had to make a choice to keep just one and decided the Synapse works better for me.

If you do pick up a cricket bat Spirit I highly recommend adding a Synapse strap hook like I did to mine - it fixes all the balance problems that are IMO inherent in the Spirits.
