Steinberger Club

Here's a question for this club. I have a 1988 XL-2, which is officially retired and resting comfortably in its hard-shell flight case. A few year ago I bought a Spirit XT-25 because, though I don't really enjoy playing 5-string, it's handy to have one around. I hated the weak pickups, so I added a Seymour Duncan active EQ, and it sounds pretty good now. Until, that is, the neck pickup died. Since it's a 5-string, nobody has a replacement pickup for this thing. Does anybody in this club know if a 7-string guitar pickup would work, or where I might find a pickup for this?

I was wondering if Steinberger XP2 owners could be part of this club?

Nice XP! I knew that after I got my XL-2 in 2004 I would have to get one of the other ones. I found the XP shape a bit too progressive for me, but the XM was right up my alley. Got mine in 2011. Not an XL but not meant to be. It still totally kicks butt. The original owner added one of those EMG boost controls (not for me) so using the extra hole I went with an EMG BQC pre. I'm sure we have the same neck otherwise. It's a real treat to have 2 Steiners so different yet so commanding. Both wearing LaBella flats.
