I purchased the bootlegger about a month or so ago. It really is a high quality item. I love the removable bar feature.

Overall Impression: It didn't shift my guitar anymore to the right than simply mounting the rear button midway on the back of the body (what I had done previously). Sadly (after drilling the bootlegger holes in my XT-2) it went back.

Mid mounting the rear button (as long as you don't have a big belly) is just the most eloquent solution imo. For larger guys, the bootlegger is probably the way to go.

Wouldn't both be even more effective as that would go closer to emulating the PP strap button points?

That's kind of where I landed too, and why I hacked up my own. Clearly it is well designed and made but it is really worth a good and measurable % of the (admittedly inexpensive) instrument's value just for a strap extender?

Exactly. No thanks. I have several copies of the original strap hook I had made on a computerized plasma cutter that work just fine. At $100 a pop that's a hard no.

It seems like they should do a bit of a market study on willingness to pay (WTP) and ask from feedback from a knowledgeable community (like this one).

I would have thought $25-30 would be more inline for something like this.

Sadly, this is the direction I'm heading as well.......also probably in white. I just don't want to drop $700 on something that might be re-issued this year or next for much less. I already have an Ibanez I love, and the EHB line just looks too good to pass up when you compare the prices.

The benefit going Ibanez too is the ability to swap different pickups. Might go the Aguilar or Nordstrand route. They tend to go for around $600 used so I'd wait, especially since the holiday season is around the corner!

I know this is a Steinberger thread so I'll add this photo of my Spirit that's still with me longer than any of my exes combined

Hey Sub- The Spirits have been around for a couple decades now. A lot of us here have owned one or more of them for years. If you want to go in a different direction with a headless bass you certainly can. This thread is for those of us who already own them or are interested in what is to come. Nobody is trying to talk prospective owners into a Spirit. We that own them and love them, do.

Very familiar with the Spirit Line. The XT-2 I now own is my third. My first Spirit guitar (a GT) was from MusicYo's first year selling online.

You may want to check out the nice brass replacement headpieces versus doing the adapter for a few dollars more, I went from the adapter over to new head peace and love the simplicity of it. (You can do 4 string or 5 string, mine are fives)
