Yah, I swapped out the electronics pretty much the day after it came out of the box. I am thinking about swapping out for an other bridge maybe, I am not sure. I definitely want to slap a Hipshot on my Fender Jazz.

I love them, I went to GC a back in November looking for a Fender P-Bass, and the guy there that I usually talk to, he is the bassist in the band "Within The Ruins", he told me to check them out so I played one and just knew this was the bass for me. absolutely fell in love. I use them in my Pop Punk/Post-hardcore band. But I also use it at college for Jazz and Motown stuff. I own 3 of them now. The Walnut, Mint Green and a white one. All of which I love. I pair them with a Sansamp RBI, Ampeg CL, and Ampeg 810. Id recommend these to anyone starting out or someone whose been playing for 30yrs. My professor at college is looking at getting one. He is a Jazz bassist who used to play for the Temptations in the 70's and has been all over the world playing double bass in his Jazz trio.

I just bought one of these. I went into the store, intentionally avoiding the expensive MM's, because I didn't want to compare them with the SUB; just evaluate it on its own merit or faults. I saw a cool color, and started playing it--it instantly felt amazing and instantly familiar. Weight-wise, very much like my old G&L, neck too--although a little narrower at the nut. I had already decided to buy the bass, when a guy who had been listening came over with a 'full' MM, and he asked if I would play it so he could compare it with the one I'd been playing. Since he asked, I did. Instantly, I didn't like it as much as the SUB-it felt like a baseball bat, and when I started playing it, the guy and I looked at each other, and I said, "the SUB sounded better didn't it. . ?" He agreed, but suggested that someone must have modded it, or something. I told him that I was buying the SUB. He said that if I didn't, he was going to. I'm guessing that like the MIM Fenders, there are probably clunkers out there--but fish around a bit. I'll put this SUB up against ANY of my other basses. (mint green with a maple neck)

I have the Black & Maple version. Great playing bass but the electronics leave much to be desired. Nothing like the real thing. I'm not stuck on having a true Stingray sound so I'm considering an EMG upgrade for mine. Just need something smoother and clearer.
Forgot to update this. I have since upgraded the electronics to a full active EMG setup which, by the way, I found here for sale for $60. EMG MMcs pickup and BTS system! Bass sounds killer! Also, pickup was lowered almost flush to the body. Solved the high output issue! I can now turn the volume up all the way. No clipping, no overdriven sound, just clean bass! :hyper:

These basses are fantastic.
Yes the pre amp is hot. But I like the aggressive tone of the bass with it.
It feels nicer than my Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar, for sure, and the jag doesn't feel cheap-o.
Factory strings were garbage, as acknowledged by SBMM, but that's not too much of an issue.

Oh and it's MINT GREEN!
