Sterling SB14 Good Used?

There were two of them on ebay a few weeks back under $400. Red, not as common as the black ones.
Like an idiot, I didn't bid on either one.
I've heard from several board members that they're great, and at that price, how can you go wrong?
Why they stopped making them is beyond me.

I just looked them up and it looks great in blue...looks like metalic blue.
If you have a bass, why not wait. Maybe you'll find one on ebay or craigslist.
There are a few on reverb.com right now.
Good price on a black one.
Just a few months ago I wasn't even aware of that site. Nice thing is you can make offers on quite a lot of stuff.

Speaking as the owner (past and present) of a couple of EBMM basses, I find there to be very few and very small differences between them and the comparable SBMM models. These include things like the necks being oil and wax finished on the EBMM models (and satin or gloss finish on the SBMMs), and the SBMM models being a little heavier. Whenever I've tried out the SBMM basses, even side by side with EBMM models, I cannot distinguish between them by listening.

So, bottom line is that yes, the SB14 would be an absolutely acceptable purchase to make for someone who is looking for a Sterling. You may even find that there is no need to "upgrade" from it, as all you would be doing is spending more money for something that really isn't that different. :)

Best of luck with your future purchase!

I'll put it to you this way, never selling mine. The new sub's are nice but the sb14 is a step up for sure. I never owned a EBMM sterling but did have a EBMM stingray and I can tell you your getting an outstanding instrument. I owned a ray34 an it too was great (had at least 80 percent of the real EBMM stingray). I like the 22 frets and slimmer neck on the sb14 and sterling compared to the P bass like neck on the stingray and ray34.
