Steve Harris extremely sloppy in these isolated live tracks

Dude...first of all steve harris is the man...period. Second,that aint steve harris...period. I have seen maiden live 5 times and he is ****in ON live...had my head buried to the mains twice. Also, u can absolutely tell that whatever butcher posted this on was playing with a pick...u can tell how scratchy every note and not even the most callused fingertips make that harsh tone. He plays with flats with his fingers and he gets that metaly rhymic sound w exfreme low action with fret clank but his tone is different than that. U can tell there is no pro track separation going on because of the in and out volume swells of the recording. If I had to say...it sounds like some hack wannabe with his made in japan steve harris fender p and wristbands on was playing along with the true live recording and had listened to the endings and was playing along while recording. I dont make it a habit of bad mouthing people...but to post this viral as a true separated track performed live by steve harris is just simple blasphemy plain and simple. Beware of this so called "isolated" tracks on the net...most of em are just some jackoff gettin his kicks. There is a so called "isolated track" of cult of personality on the net complete with the album cover and although it is pretty servicable and not near as atrocious as that maiden bootleg, the dude who recorded it plays the low E instead of an octave up E on the second bar of the last two quick 16th notes of the signature riff ..which is not how it was recorded and it was supposed to be isolated from the original mix.

who knows if those are legit or not, but isolate any track from any record, and it sounds weird compared to how it sits in the mix. if he is syncing to the kick drum, or the guitar guys, then it sounds weird when isolated.

When I mix a band, I purposefully eq the isolated tracks to sound weird and one dimensional because when you put it all together, it meshes.

Like you would never eat mayonnaise out of the jar, but it goes harmoniously well on a sandwich!

People still don't understand that that sound is coming from flatwounds clanking off the frets.

Wrong, people with refined ears know exactly what strings clanking against the frets sound like.
What some people with unrefined ears obviously can't hear is the pick scratching against the string.
Unless he was drunk and playing left handed (with a pick) it was not Steve Harris

At least 50% of how weird this sounds is the aggressive noise gating.

The track was clearly taken from the direct out on an amp - it's all clank and no rumble. I'd wager if you ran it through a speaker the low end would cover up 80% of the mistakes.

I have a problem with a lot of official live Maiden recordings because they tend to way over favor the board mix vs the house sound resulting in a weirdly too clean sound on the bass and vocals.

That being said, if Steve Harris played with the kind of mechanical precision all our favorite youtube heroes display, he'd probably be playing on youtube instead of the world's largest arenas - that feeling in Maiden's music of a power so intensely insane you can barely control it is what got them to and what keeps them on the top, and he expresses it in his playing.

EXACTLY!!! Im sure steve could dust anybody in this discussion. When I do a great SHOW performance I dont play as well but I get more compliments the worse I play. When you are in front of that many people standing still and nailing it doesnt cut it
