What about the Warwick Just-A-Nut? It's a drop in on Warwicks.

There is no such thing as a drop in replacement nut.

Warwick Just-A-Nut must be adjusted after installation. The fact that it is easy and quick does not negate the original premise.

I have the Warwick Just-A-Nut I & III. The first one can go up and down, but III is really only good to go up. Depending on the strings I get, I sometimes put JAN I back on. I know it's supposed to be glued on, but the strings hold it in place just fine.

why would you swap two improperly attached nuts back and forth, instead of having one that's truly fitted right and permanently mounted? especially when they're adjustable?

Because I can't get quality strings in Thailand, Laos, and central China. If I settle down in the USA I will do that. But the strings available in Asia are a totally different animal.

BTW my Warwick is almost 20 years old but still packs a wollop.

i would just pick whichever nut has the larger slots (hopefully it's the I rather than the III, i think that's a more clever and more solid design) and install it properly, i.e., permanently.

if you find that you can't get a string low enough with the I, remember that the slots can still be filed down like any other nut, but you have the advantage of being able to easily raise it up a quarter-turn if you go a touch too low.

Walter, I think you have hit on the only advantage there is for an adjustable nut. If you mess it up with the filing, you can raise it and have another go.

Thanks for the advice about filing. A file I can get anywhere. It may break in the first minute but at least they are out there.
