Dis my wife recieve foot up hiney! have they found their bottom king yet!!
Seeing a recent craigslist ad post made me think of this thread. I can't explain how much this meant to me as a bass player. I was already in a band (still in it technically) but I wanted more, we weren't playing much. When I first saw this thread I was like "I have to jump at this", I had only switched to bass from guitar about a 2 years prior but I knew I had the chops. I had junk gear...they actually bought the Geddy Lee in my avatar pic later...of course I payed them back, but they wanted me to have the right "look" and I was down with that! lol Anyway...we went on to play about once or twice a month for a little over a year...every gig yielded me at least $125 but the experience I got was invaluable! And I made contacts! So ultimately I guess I owe my meager success to Talk Bass. I wouldn't be where I am now (not famous yet obviously, but working on it) without this silly, crazy, truthful and hard assed community. Thanks guys!

Well I could've made a seperate post about I guess. No they're not looking, the band is dead...as far as I know. Don't talk to the guys anymore. I just thought you guys would like to know that this community helped me get a start.Wow Bass Cliff replied and was kinda mean.... first time I've ever seen that!Hi,
I suppose that's as good of a reason as any to dig up this mummy thread.
So I guess they're looking for another bass player, again. Unfortunately #15 knocks me out of contention.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff

Haha nah there wasn't anybody involved named Gus. Still not sure why it was called that.Sounds like the perfect band except for the horrible band name.
Gus Whitaker must be the egomaniacal band leader that posted the ad
It's all good bro, It was late and I was more than a little tipsy since I don't start back to work til next week.Hi,
I'm sorry if you thought my response was mean. I thought I was being tongue-in-cheek. Please accept my apologies. It's ok too bring a story full circle. I'm glad you find inspiration and encouragement in this community. I'll try to provide more of that.
Thank you for your indulgence,

What a bunch of tools the guys are who wrote the ad in the OP. Where the hell do they get off?! Doesn’t matter if auditions haven’t been going well. I wouldn’t join a band that had an attitude like that on a dare. I hope they never found anybody and broke up.
Now that’s mean.
