(I made the Stingray to that pic, it is so sweet to see that someone cared to remember it.) That kinda made my day.

Rics and (most or at least a lot of) hollowbodies would be tough because they are shorter scale.

I could probably do a much better version now that I have AutoCAD on my home computer, with measurements and everything. Any interest?

It's funny that the J bridge pickup looks closer to the neck than the Stingray pickup, when it's further, it's like one of them vision affecting pictures.

The neck pickup on the Streamer? That is very strange. I guess (since your bass has already been routed) this doesn't really matter. That bass looks sick.

Oh no, I mean between the Fender Jazz's bridge picku, and the Stingray's pickup, it's the way their bridges and pickguards are styled I suppose.

Looking at each individually, the EBMM looks closeer to the bridge, and the J a bit away, but the way they line up, the verymost bridge edge of the EBMM pickup lines up with the poles on the Jazz.

Oh and cheers, I really can't wait for it to be finished!

I see it now, seems to me like the jazz's body causes that effect, it being so much farther past the bridge.

I'm really interested to see how this turns out as well! I have a bass nearing completion with two Nordstrand MMs in it. Here is what the positioning will look like. (24 fret FB)

Just for closure, what exact measurement did you end up going with?

I've never seen that shape by him, only the (J)unk Jazz model...

Very interesting, I'd like to hear how the double-MM configuration compares to the Nordstrand DC version you already have. Can the DC's cop a decent stingray tone when wired correctly, or not?

No I don't think the DCs sound anything like the MMs, but I also haven't played them back to back. The other thing to consider is that the spacing is different usually. It's rare to see a DC in the traditional MM position...though my next Callowhill might have something very close to that

They're kindof worlds apart, I'd imagine, from the differences in size and slugs.

I've heard they're a bit like the Fender Roscoe Beck pickups, though.

Actually, it's the most comfortable radius I've ever encountered. Not quite flat, but very flat compared to the vintage Fender 7-something" radius. That curve combined with a skinny Jazz width makes my fretting hand cramp just thinking about it.

The prototype of the stingray was built by a guy working for Rickenbacker. The original was a passive bass with one toaster pickup. The pickup was placed at the harmonic the is the same harmonic as the dot between the 2nd and third fret.
