Well as soon as I got it I strung it up for F so I didn't get much time getting to know it in a more normal sonic spectrum.
But in F I remember it had a strong low end but still even and balanced throughout the spectrum. That could have had to do with the dark stars too. I don't remember what gain pedals I was using back then. But I do remember I had it in my emperor stack days, so it would have been great to hear it with good cabs.
It was the only all passive bass I ever tried to use for Bongripper that was successful at it.
And also to your point of being too loud that it drives people away, that definitely happened more in our early days (or maybe we really did just suck) but these days most people realize what they're getting into when they come to see us. It's insanely flattering and awesome the amount of support we've gotten the last few years.
good deal on the kramer, i use all passive basses so im interested to hear this vs my RD Artist (thats passive for me).
and yeah, you guys are obviously established so it makes sense. maybe someday we will reach "please gods of doom blow our ear drums away" status, but we'll have to wait and see lol.
