And also to your point of being too loud that it drives people away, that definitely happened more in our early days (or maybe we really did just suck) but these days most people realize what they're getting into when they come to see us. It's insanely flattering and awesome the amount of support we've gotten the last few years.

good deal on the kramer, i use all passive basses so im interested to hear this vs my RD Artist (thats passive for me).

and yeah, you guys are obviously established so it makes sense. maybe someday we will reach "please gods of doom blow our ear drums away" status, but we'll have to wait and see lol.

One thing to keep in mind is that the RD's have a 34.5" scale whereas the Kramer is 34" I never thought that 1/2" would make so much of a difference, but the tension is fantastic on the RD for low tunings which is a big part of why I like the RD for our tuning.

Did another quick demo of the Dunwich preamp, recorded direct with a cab sim. Finally busted out the vintage RAT and LS-2 for clean blend. This is the main setup I really wanted this preamp for and it didn't disappoint.

Man I can't wait for my VFE Enterprise Phaser junior to get here, supposed to be this month. Well I got some wiring done on the weekend and the Bartolini is as loud as the pickups in my other basses, so pretty happy about that. I couldn't get the push pull pot straight so just wired it in series. I am going to attempt that again on a less busy weekend though when I have some spare wire lol. The bart added some more growl for sure and some old school deep tones for sure!!! Also swapped the neck pickup in my Peavey Reactor tele style to a Dimarzio Twang King, huge improvement over stock neck pup. Very strat like, so stoked, and matched so nicely to the awesome stock bridge pickup. Got in trouble with the old lady for spending too much time on my projects and not her projects lol. Got more practice soldering and no burns on my fingers lol.

Peavey Foundations are the shvt. Used to have a lined fretless that I should of never sold. Even the late Foundation models without the ferrite pickups sound decent. I had a five string and had to return it because the damn tuning peg got trashed in shipping. Peavey USA is the ****!!!

I just started using ear plugs this year...after way too many years playing in loud rock bands without them. I think I have slight tinnitus because of it. I use these Vater plugs now. http://vater.com/products/product.cfm?M=287 I find them pretty great for the price. I can still hear everything but just at a lower volume. No more ringing ears.

always. I really like the etys. cheap and very even across the frequency spectrum. I hardly notice they are there. we always have some cheap ones at gigs at the door for anyone that wants them. better than having people leave due to excessive volume.

I would definitely look at the INFAEM. I agree I think I could do better than the HBE, but I like it, I like my board set up / there is 0 room on there, and my HBE also has a really really sweet paint job... There was also a period in my life where I really supported the "other" psilocybe.

if I ran it at 16 ohm through a 2x15 (4 ohm), a 4x10 (8 ohm) and a 2x12 (or 1x15) (4ohm) in series.. would this be a very extreme volume increase? or would i do better by simply getting a 200w head?

i have a 200w head right now through the 2x15 and it runs great and at the same volume, but i'm soon to return it to its original owner.

BE WARY: I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that simple plugging cabinets into one another will not lead an ohm value representing series wiring unless your jacks have a series/paralell switch. I think that even though you can plug the cabs into one another the speakers are still wired in paralell... Worst case throw a multimeter on there before you plug it into the head and make sure your not going to smoke anything.... At least not in the good way.

I use custom molded ear plugs. You can go to an ear doctor and get them made for around $100. They take a mold of your ear canals and make you ear plugs shaped specifically to your ear canals. Then you can choose what filter you use. I think mine is a -15 dB filter. It more or less has an even frequency filter so things sound pretty similar to how they sound without ear plugs in, just quieter. Does a good job of protecting my hearing but still allowing me to hear I want to hear.

Thought I would show the pics of that vintage Kay bass I picked up. Didn't bond with it so it is on ebay but was till cool to fool around with. Crazy it has close to the same scale of my electric. Ha Ha Wilbur the tortoise is in the background close tot he Tele headstock. He is the tortoiose of Doom when he starts slamming against the plexiglass on his cage.

+1 for Ety Plugs. Got a pair for free to try out then went and bought two more. Excellent product, and pretty inexpensive.
