Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 16 - Gettin' Paid!

So looks like Pick of the Ricks is out of stock of the pickup I need right now. I'm going to see how the store orders them and see if they can get the correct replacement from Rick.

However, what about these?

Also, the tech didn't mention anything about getting the pickup rewound. Is it possible it can be "bad" enough that it can't be fixed? He made it sound like there was a break in the coil. Remember, I don't know anything about pickups.

unless the bobbin is completely TRASHED, which I don't see being the case, then you should be cool

I thought he said something like there was a break in the coil. Can someone rewind the pickup with new wire then?

Here's what the current pickup looks like. I'd like to get something that looks the same.

Ric won't have a direct replacement for that exact pup since its second generation high gain. They will have third generation which is hotter and has adjustable poles. But if you buy a 3rd gen you'll have to dump more money to get a neck pup since the output will be so different. Your era pup meters around 7.5k and newer ones are at about 10k. That's a pretty big difference in 3k to how the pup sounds.

Hmmm the plot thickens! Well if you end up buying a new pup, I'll buy the old busted one off you.
