stoner/doom bassist thread part 2: suspicious smoke

Actually not even sure I'd even want to see them live. Aside from a few hits from the other albums, Songs for the Deaf was the only one I REALLY got in to, and not sure I'd want to see them without that lineup.

I think at this point I'd much rather see The Eagles of Death Metal live.

If I could time travel I'd totally love to go back and see Kyuss in their prime!

Tuning isn't everything. Our stuff is tuned a half step down and is still heavy as balls.

Indeed. We're normally in B standard (sometimes drop A) but often play up in E or A. I'm starting to like drop A since we can play mainly A an octave up (or that higher B or E) and then drop down to the low A for some extra chunk.

Even when we play in B standard a lot is up the octave with melodies going around, so it doesn't sound like Suffocation. ;)

Suffocation rules by the way. They just aren't stoner rock. :D

Also, Kyuss is playing here in a couple of weeks. Definitely looking forward to it!

Well Since everybody else is posting up their stuff...

Nice rig Snake! I own an OC-3 and Digitech Chorus as well and find they work great together. Carvin is also very underrated and not praised enough!

How do you like the Traben? I owned an Array Attack for awhile. The Rockfield pickups sounded awesome in that thing, but the build quality (neck pocket, fret edges, etc) really left something to be desired. Bass felt kind of cheap. Possibly it was the model I had or a not so great factory turn out.

Gotta back Laz up on the Carvin. While Ive never had one, every time weve played with a band where the bassist used em I was floored by the sound. Almost literally. Guys talk about rigs that move serious air, those things move serious people!

how ya like that Dark Boost?

I Love the Traben I got mine before the factory production moved to Vietnam.....and this is a neck-thru Array Obsession which is a little higher end model than the standard array...

The Carvin cabs are decent but the cabs next to them I built myself and they are loaded with Eminence Drivers are really roar...

Maryland Death Fest for next year lineup is now posted...
a whole stupid ton of bands.. but Electric Wizard, Unsane, Yob, Saint Vitus, Godflesh, and Anvil (lol) are playing... plus about another 40bands.. but those alone may be worth the ticket price!

I'll be playing Maryland Death Fest actually, with my band Dødheimsgard! It's black metal so I guess it's not really relevant to this thread, but anyways...

Never been stateside before, so I'm pretty stoked.
Looking forward to seeing Electric Wizard, Morbid Angel and Suffocation aswell!

One of my bands actually opened for Anvil a few months ago. It was pretty fun! I met Rob Reiner and saw Lips around during sound check, but chickened out from talking to him when he shot me a weird look from across the room haha.

The first song was a little rocky, but once they got into it and warmed up they were pretty great. Lips was having the time of his life, which was heartwarming to see.
