I just ordered my .210 for Eb0. If I can convince my cousin to tune down an octave, or even F#, you guys will be the first to hear the results.
Yeah, I imagine you guys have it a lot worse than we even. I've seen my fair share of awesome music in this town, but I've also seen so many amazing tours come in and play Montreal and Toronto, then skip through the states, and pop back up to play Vancouver. It's so annoying watching everyone drive right past you.
I'd like to tune lower but I don't think my guitar player will be hip to it. Of course it wont be much lower then we are already. We are in Drop C and I want to try B Standard. I think any lower and we kinda start walking out of the musical direction we are on. Any thoughts?
I've never understood it when all band members tune to the same low string. I love the sound of big open string drones, and they do make a difference for cool pull-off riffs, but they are also a crutch for a lot of bands.
I always wanted to be in a two guitar band where the guitarists use different tunings so we could get some songs with open string riffs in more than one key (E & B would be pimp, since I have both of those stings). There's no need for everyone to be doing the same thing all of the time, and my ears get bored when a bands play an entire set in the same key.

positive, seen them live twice & played with them. that bass was mega low. to the point where it was almost inaudible(when he hit open notes on the lowest string...whatever it was tuned to?) admittedly, but it was tuned down that low for sure.
I used to feel this way about it, but seriously, you can not make this sound with an instrument tuned between E-low B...

1:10 into this song is one of the coolest parts I've heard from a heavy band in a while. They play in unison for the super heavy stuff, but they have a lot of parts where they are all in different octaves.
I tune half a step down, and sometimes I will drop the E string down to C# but that's as low as I get. The guitar will tune to B or A but I won't follow, I'll just play in the same octave if needed.
btw.. as this thread is approaching the 1000 mark, Im considering opening the successive thread with a discussion topic for you all to ponder..

Actually Laz.. I kinda could appreciate them until I saw em live. They were without a doubt the worst band I have ever seen live. Worse than crappy local bands that have only rehearsed twice. It was like every member was playing an amazing version of a QOTSA song, just not the same one. I couldnt believe it.
Im not trying to destroy your appreciation of their albums... just trying to save you the bucks if they ever come around this way.

Bassboysam, I just listened to some Monobrow, and the song Buried In The Backyard reminds me a lot of Dead Meadow. It might be in the guitar tone at the beginning, but it's got some solid groove. Nice work!
