Hey Sam, I just saw you were selling a Hotcake recently. I really wish I had seen that earlier, I've been looking for one for months.

Don't bother man, I did not like it at all, had it for less than 2 days. The gain knob is on or off, and I did not like it's distorted sound too, kind of fuzzy in a bad way. It sounds much better on guitar than bass.

Really? Hmm...well, I might have a buddy of mine do a clone for cheap anyway. I want it for a rock band I've been jamming with lately, for that Superchunk style tone, not really stoner/doom stuff.

If I was going to spend that much bank on a t-bird, I think I'd rather have a Mike Lull T-Bass. I like what he's done to the body to make it more playable while keeping that thunderbird character.

i want a vintage one, im not really into high end copies of classic basses. i like the collectibility factor as well. if it comes with the original case i hope it smells like a basement! haha

When it comes to a tone I'm all for going the clone/next best thing route, since there's a lot of ways to get a particular sound without the name brand. There's something to be said though for buying something just because you want THAT thing. Especially if it's a "want", not a "need" and you have the money to spend.

oh its definitely want lol. im just fans of originals especially with instruments. im sure theres clones of almost anything that sounds close or even exact, but the idea of owning a piece of history gets me jazzed. still havent seen all the pics of this guy yet so im not 100% sold yet.

Honestly you'd be better off asking the bass forum on modern ibanez. My only recent Ibanez was my ATK700 which is notoriously heavy but didn't bother me because I'm a big dude with the back of a lumber jack.

My first nice bass was a Korean SR700 and that bass was incredible. Check out my YouTube profile from my link in my sig to see a couple covers with it. I think it was pretty light but I can't really remember. Also owned an SRX695 which really impressed me with the Ibanez made MM like humbuckers. Bass sounded damn amazing I just don't like 5 strings.

I think most modern Ibanez are pretty light but also are all active. Nice thing about them is you can buy em cheap used and try out a lot of models at local stores.

Also, I did snag that 1975 Ibanez Pbass from CL. Had my sister pick it up on her way into the burgh for a weekend visit.

For being 37 years old this thing is like a 9.5/10. Neck looks dead mint, no fret wear. It is strung up with fender jazz black nylon strings from the 70s and original hard case. There's a pack of unopened strings of the same type in the case. Current strings are still installed from the 70s. Purchased from a guy who was in his 60s who took it from his father when he passed and never played it.

Ashtray covers annoy me and will likely come off, but it sounds and feels amazing. What a steal for $250. Will post pics soon. Time to go get drunk.

so i think i have my fuzz needs sorted, eventhough i still want to try the Bluebeard, but I have a few OD pedals on the way. typically i just get OD from my amp(s) but I'm finding since I replaced the speakers in my cab, i can't turn the amp loud enough to get the drive i like.

got a Dark Driving on the way, i owned one for a while and its a long story but after I sold it found out that when i tried to fix the LED that got disconnected during shipping I did it wrong and that ended up impacting the tone. So i'm giving it another try.

Also on the way, a McSpunkle And Aardvarks, as well as an HBE Hematoma. There is a B7K in the classifieds right now that if I hadn't already purchased all the above would have loved to try out.

Any other OD suggestions? Looking for something relatively warm/dark, not fuzzy and smaller footprint is ideal.
